Jimmy Page Is Rocking Higher Than Ever With An Album Now Considered A Classic

Jimmy Page returns to the U.K. charts with Live at the Greek, earning his first-ever vinyl placement ... More and a new peak on the Official Albums Sales chart. Guitarist Jimmy Page performing with British heavy rock group Led Zeppelin, at Earl's Court, London, May 1975. The band were initially booked to play three nights at the venue, from 23rd to 25th May, but due to public demand, two more concerts were later added, for 17th and 18th May. Total ticket sales were 85,000. (Photo by) Jimmy Page is best known as the driving force behind Led Zeppelin, but he's carved out a solo career with a handful of side projects that fans continue to enjoy. This week, he's not just back on the charts in the United Kingdom, he's bigger than ever in several ways. Thanks to a special reissue of one of his most only solo live albums, the guitar legend returns to the rankings, and also places on one he's never reached on his own before. More than 25 years ago, Page linked up with the Black Crowes for a special concert in Los Angeles. The result of that team-up was Live at the Greek, a full-length live album that captured the show perfectly. That project was recently reissued to celebrate its twenty-fifth anniversary, and fans have clearly responded. This frame, Live at the Greek appears on three different charts in the U.K. It debuts on two of them and re-enters another in a higher position than ever before. Live at the Greek debuts at No. 13 on the Official Albums Sales chart. That ranking counts only pure sales across the U.K., whether digital or on a physical format. The No. 13 showing earns Page his best placement yet on this list under his own name. He's only appeared on the tally once before. Back in 2019, when his joint effort with Robert Plant, What Made Milwaukee Famous, started and peaked at a distant No. 91. The same reissue brings Live at the Greek back to another important ranking, the Official Physical Albums chart. The list tracks only purchases of CDs, vinyl, and other tangible formats, which continue to be an important space for legacy artists with dedicated collectors. Live at the Greek re-enters that list at No. 11. That placement becomes the album's brand new peak. While it's a new best for the project, Page has performed even better on this ranking in the past. No Quarter, another collaboration with Plant, launched at No. 7 back in 1994. What Made Milwaukee Famous also made it onto this list, but it stalled at No. 67. The reissue of Live at the Greek didn't just perform via CD and digital shoppers, it also sold well on vinyl. This week, it debuts on the Official Vinyl Albums chart at No. 11, making it one of the top-selling vinyl releases in the country. This is a first for Page. While his work with Led Zeppelin has helped him place on the vinyl ranking before, this new arrival marks the first time he's reached the chart with a project under his own name.

Jimmy Page Debuts On Multiple Charts At Once, But The Music Isn't New

Jimmy Page and The Black Crowes' Live at the Greek returns to the U.K. charts with a new peak, more ... More than two decades after its original release. (Photo by Watal Asanuma/) Jimmy Page hasn't needed to release a steady stream of solo material to remain a legend. As a founding member of Led Zeppelin, he helped craft some of the most iconic rock songs in music history and sold tens of millions of albums. But when it comes to working without his band, Page has been much more selective. That makes his latest win on the charts in the United Kingdom all the more exciting. A new version of one of his only solo-adjacent releases returns him to multiple charts this week. The project has been on something of a major comeback, one which has now lasted several frames, which is unusual for this kind of full-length. More than 25 years ago, Page joined The Black Crowes for a one-off performance at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles. The show was a special one for fans of both acts, and thankfully, it was preserved and released as Live at the Greek. This week, the live effort debuts on two U.K.-based tallies, the Official Vinyl Albums chart and the Official Albums Sales list. It narrowly misses reaching the top 10 on both, settling instead at Nos. 11 and No. 13, respectively. In addition to its debuts, Live at the Greek also returns to a third list this week. The collection reappears on the Official Physical Albums chart, which tracks the bestselling projects on physical formats like vinyl, CD, and cassette across the country. It's not new to this roster, but this period does mark its best performance yet. The title comes in at No. 11 on the physical-only tally, matching its placement on the vinyl roster. This marks its seventh appearance on the ranking, and its first in nearly a quarter century. The last time the live effort was spotted on the list was back in August 2000, when it tumbled to No. 95. Not only is Live at the Greek back, it has now reached a brand new peak, besting its former high point of No. 39 – the only time it appeared inside the top 40 on the tally until now. This sudden interest in Live at the Greek comes thanks to the fact that it was recently reissued on vinyl in celebration of a special anniversary. The project was released in 2000 – a quarter-century ago – and recorded the year prior, in 1999. A signed version of Live at the Greek is expected to be made available on Page's official website later this month. If that exclusive edition is offered in limited, but large-enough quantities, it could become responsible for another huge sales push.

Jimmy Page Reaches A Billboard Chart For The First Time With A Decades-Old Release

Jimmy Page's Live at the Greek with The Black Crowes debuts at No. 19 on Billboard's Top Hard Rock ... More Albums, marking his first solo appearance on the chart. Total ticket sales were 85,000. (Photo by) Jimmy Page is, and always will be, a titan in the hard rock world. No matter what he releases, who he collaborates with, or how much time passes, the guitarist will always be considered a legend. This week, he proves that fact once again. Page returns to Billboard's charts in America thanks to a collaborative live project. Not only does he break onto two important tallies, but he also earns a spot on one that, surprisingly, he's never appeared on before as a soloist. Live at the Greek, a collaborative live project from Jimmy Page and The Black Crowes, launches this week at No. 19 on the Top Hard Rock Albums chart. This set marks Page's first solo appearance on this Billboard tally. Given his legacy and involved discography, many might assume the guitar icon had conquered this genre-specific list years ago — but somehow, that's never been the case until now. Of course, this isn't Page's first time on the Top Hard Rock Albums ranking altogether. As a member of Led Zeppelin, he's helped the band score 10 appearances on the list. Six of those have climbed into the top 10. The most successful entries are Mothership and Celebration Day, both of which spent eight weeks each at No. 1. Live at the Greek is one of just two brand new entries on the Top Hard Rock Albums list this frame. The roster is led by Coheed and Cambria's The Father of Make Believe, which opens in first place. Most of the other albums that return to the list this week are familiar favorites returning to the tally, including Paranoid by Black Sabbath (No. 17), Vicennial: 2 Decades of Seether (No. 20), Mötley Crüe's Greatest Hits (No. 23) and Hybrid Theory by Linkin Park (No. 25). While Page is new to the Top Hard Rock Albums list as a soloist, this latest debut also benefits The Black Crowes. The group doubles its total number of appearances on the ranking with this release. The band's only other entry came back in 2021, when the full-length Shake Your Money Maker soared to No. 6. Beyond its debut on the Top Hard Rock Albums chart, Live at the Greek also re-enters two additional Billboard rankings this week. It blasts back onto the Top Album Sales chart at No. 13, reaching a new peak in the process. Just one space below, it also returns to the Vinyl Albums tally. According to Luminate, Live at the Greek sold 6,400 copies in the past tracking frame. That's an impressive figure for a decades-old title, one that recently found new life thanks to a reissue on vinyl.

Jimmy Page & The Black Crowes Announce Live at the Greek 25th Anniversary Reissue

The post Jimmy Page & The Black Crowes Announce Live at the Greek 25th Anniversary Reissue appeared first on Consequence. Jimmy Page and The Black Crowes have announced a 25th anniversary expanded reissue of their live album Live at the Greek, out March 14th. The new edition contains the original selections from the 1999 concerts at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, plus 16 previously unreleased recordings. All 36 tracks — a mix of Led Zeppelin classics and originals by the Black Crowes — have been remixed and remastered for this release, and the new mixes of the Black Crowes' 'No Speak No Slave' and Zeppelin's 'Bring It on Home' (previously unreleased) can be streamed now. 'The new mixes capture the collaboration of those historic encounters,' remarked Page in a press release, 'and provide the full explosive passion and exciting energy of those alchemical moments.' For completionists, the 6-LP vinyl box set contains all 36 tracks, including the 16 previously unreleased cuts. A 2-LP edition features the original show plus a previously unreleased soundcheck jam (also included in the box set); and the 3-CD digipak houses the original tracklist sans bonus material. 'The new Live at the Greek box set brings the whole experience of our work with Jimmy into a vibrant, electric, mystical, and powerful perspective,' stated The Black Crowes' frontman Chris Robinson. 'Hail, hail rock 'n roll!' Added guitarist Rich Robinson: 'Going through the shows and putting together the new box set has been such an incredible dive back to that time in our history. It was a once-in-a-lifetime thrill to play these amazing iconic songs with the man who composed them. The sound of the new mixes and extra songs blew me away when I first heard them.' The news of the 25th anniversary reissue comes as The Black Crowes just received a nomination for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame's Class of 2025. Jimmy Page has already been inducted twice, with Led Zeppelin and The Yardbirds. Pre-order the box set and individual CD/vinyl releases via the Black Crowes' website.
