Ralph Macchio's Secret Talent That Played a Key Role in His 'Karate Kid' Success
Ralph Macchio showed off some tap dancing moves on Live with Kelly and Mark The Karate Kid star told hosts Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos his tap skills could help with karate moves Macchio stars in the latest installment of the Karate Kid universe, Karate Kid: LegendsRalph Macchio is a man of many talents — acting, karate, and ... tap dancing! While the Karate Kid: Legends star opened up about his childhood on Friday's episode of Live with Kelly and Mark, such as how he worked for his father's laundromat growing up, he also revealed a unique skill that helped with his famous Karate Kid roles. "I wanted to be Gene Kelly," Macchio told hosts Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos of taking tap dancing classes as a kid. "My mom and I used to watch the old movie musicals when I was a kid." "That's where I sort of [was] bit with the bug of wanting to perform," Macchio added, noting that the choreography skills he learned for tap could transfer to karate moves. "One, you point your toes, and the other, you flex." With a little encouragement from Ripa and Consuelos, the Cobra Kai actor got up and showed a few tap moves. Despite Macchio feeling his skills were a little rough, Ripa and Consuelos plus the audience applauded for seeing the original Karate Kid in action. After recently wrapping the sixth and final season of Netflix's Karate Kid spinoff series Cobra Kai, Macchio reprises his role of Daniel LaRusso for the latest installment of the Karate Kid franchise — Karate Kid: Legends. The film also stars Jackie Chan's Mr. Han, who appeared in the 2010 Karate Kid remake, and new protagonist Li Fong (played by Ben Wang). Macchio told PEOPLE at the New York City premiere of Karate Kid: Legends that the sixth film of the martial arts franchise "has different [and] more of like an early Jackie Chan movie style, a Hong Kong style." "The fight [scenes], the cameras are really wide lenses inside the fights. There's humor laced throughout and there was always humor in the Karate Kid films, but the original films we made was kind of cinema magic, very romantic," Macchio said. "Wide, long takes, dialogue scenes that breathe. This is a quicker pace for this generation, but laced with humor, excitement, next level martial arts and Ben Wang is a rock star in the movie." "And the reason I'm in this movie is to pay that legacy forward," Macchio added. "Shedding a little piece of Miyagi forward. It's never the wrong thing to do in Daniel LaRusso's eyes and in Ralph Macchio's eyes." Karate Kid: Legends is now playing in theaters. Read the original article on People

Sarah Silverman shares answer to burning question about 'White Lotus' Season 3
Comedian Sarah Silverman got all of her burning questions about the recent "White Lotus" season answered directly from the source. Silverman, 54, appeared on the morning talk show "Live with Kelly and Mark" on May 28 to discuss her career, including her new Netflix comedy special "PostMortem." The conversation shifted to the Emmy-award-winning HBO series when cohost Kelly Ripa reminded Silverman that she starred alongside "White Lotus" creator Mike White in "School of Rock" back in 2003. "I love pointing out to people that Ned Schneebly is the guy who writes all of the White Lotuses," Silverman told Ripa and cohost Mark Consuelos. Despite encouraging words from Ripa and Consuelos about a possible future "White Lotus" cameo appearance, Silverman said she is doubtful White would ever put her in the show, though telling the audience that she would "love" it and that she'd be "amazing." 'White Lotus' creator answers Sarah Silverman's burning question Silverman said she "loathes" reaching out to White about the show, but she did so anyway. "I did text him after (Season 3)," Silverman said. "I emailed him and I said, 'What's up with Leslie? How come we didn't find out why Parker Posey iced Leslie Bibb? Why did she pretend not to know her? I go, is it something that you didn't get to, and it got cut out, or like what's the answer?'" Silverman was referring to an uncomfortable interaction between Victoria Ratliff (Parker Posey) and Kate (Leslie Bibb), who were two hotel guests in the show's third season, People reported. Kate, who was vacationing with her childhood best friends, insists that she knew Victoria and that they had a mutual friend. Victoria, on vacation with her family, appeared not to be interested in entertaining the discussion further and iced her out, according to People. The answer to Silverman's question was infinitely less complicated than she had thought. "No, no," White told her. "I was just showing that she was a (expletive)." Marilyn Monroe is that you? Watch as a sea of blonde lookalikes hit the water Awkward moment seen in 'White Lotus' Season 3 wasn't that serious Jason Isaacs, who played Timothy Ratliff, offered a similar explanation, saying in an April 11 episode of the "I've Never Said This Before" podcast that Victoria knew exactly who Kate was but that she did not want to be bothered by a stranger while on holiday. "They're not used to other people being in their business,' Isaacs said. 'So, the fact that somebody from another table comes and gets in Victoria's face, she just doesn't want to be chatting to people by the pool. She doesn't want other people to be around.' Despite fan speculation and dissection about the women's hypothetical history, Isaacs insists it wasn't that serious. "That's all it was," the actor said. 'Just, 'I don't want these trashy people being in my life. I don't really want other people to talk to.'"

The couple, who have been married for almost three decades, contemplated their own breakup on the May 29 episode of Live with Kelly and Mark after Ripa, 54, brought up a study that showed that men 'placed more importance on romance' than women. 'They experience greater mental and physical health benefits from being in a relationship" and "struggle more with the emotional toll of a breakup," Ripa explained before telling Consuelos, also 54: "I know if you and I broke up, you would absolutely fall apart, completely.' "That's true,' he admitted, prompting a collective 'aww' from the audience. Consuelos then revealed how he would cope if he and Ripa ever did go their separate ways. "But I do feel like someone would be there on the other end just to pick me up and make sure I'm okay. Pretty sure," he joked. "I'd have to get used to their college schedule and all that stuff." Ripa laughed at her husband's speculation and teased, "Oh my God. Oh, dear God, I hope I live to see your second wife!" The pair first crossed paths while doing a screen test for All My Children in 1995, and have been together ever since. They eloped in Las Vegas a year later and went on to welcome three children together. Now, their long-lasting relationship has become a common talking point on the popular morning show. In a March episode, they reflected on their strong connection after Ripa asked Consuelos what love meant to him. 'Love for me now is spending a quiet afternoon with you just watching me watch sports,' Consuelos quipped. 'No, I love being with my family.' 'We didn't have a family back then,' he noted of when they first met. 'Love's evolved.' 'I've been in love with you since the day I met you, and beyond loving you, I really like you a lot,' Ripa replied, calling Consuelos 'my favorite person.' 'I do find that early on, whether it be a really serious relationship or early in the marriage, it always feels like someone loves the other person more,' he shared. 'It's like 65/35, or 67/43.' Ripa confessed that now, she thinks she loves Consuelos 'a little bit more,' but insisted, 'That's okay. I'm fine with that. You don't seem to know that, so it's good. It's all working.' You continue to be the force of light and love and life that makes it all make sense," added Wolf.
