New artisan market set to launch in Stroud area
AN artisan market is set to launch in Nailsworth this weekend.
Mortimer Gardens will host the first market under the LoveNailsworth Business Group's management on Saturday, August 9 at 10am.
The group won the bid to keep the monthly market running after the previous operators' contract ended.
Liz Townley, market manager and working group lead, said they have a "great selection" of traders ready for the launch.
She said: "We have an impressive selection of traders for our first market, bringing some established favourites and some new faces into the town."
The artisan market will now take place on the second Saturday of each month, with plans for additional markets for special events.
The new opening times of 10am to 2pm are designed to encourage visitors to stay in town for lunch and explore the other shops.
The market will also feature a stall sponsored by On The Hill, allowing the Nailsworth Food Pantry to collect food and supplies for their food bank.
Tony Davey, interim chairman of LoveNailsworth, praised the team's efforts in securing a variety of stallholders.
He said: 'The team have done an amazing job to attract such a diversity of stallholders and I thank them for all their hard work and dedication.
'We are committed to the market being an integral part of the entire town retail offering, alongside its vital role in linking small businesses to our amazing community.
'We hope everyone enjoys visiting the market, in the heart of our beautiful town, and also takes time to explore the other superb offerings available across our town.
'We are blessed to have such an abundance of quality, independent businesses in our bustling town.'
