Double delight: Twins from Kottayam share varsity rank
Kottayam: Even a university rank could not separate the twin sisters from Kanjirappally, as
Liza Mariam George
and
Liya Treesa George
secured a
joint first rank
in the BA English Language and Literature Model II Teaching course of
Mahatma Gandhi University
, Kottayam.
Both secured an 8.43 cumulative credit point average and grade A to share the top spot. They completed their graduation from St Dominic's College, Kanjirappally. The twin sisters were in the same class from kindergarten. Their results were identical right from school days. When both scored A+ in all subjects in Class X, they finished with A+ in five subjects and A in one subject in Class XII.
Both developed an interest in reading, mainly due to the small library at home maintained by their mother, Renna Raju, who is a higher secondary school teacher.
"We read a lot of novels, especially Malayalam," said Liya.
The twin sisters make joint decisions about their education and career too. Both have set their eyes on securing govt jobs. "We decided to prepare for the SSA examination for one year and will join PG next year," says Liza.
Their father, Raju Mathew, is a sales executive, while younger brother, Mathew George, is in Class X.
The two say that being twins has more positives than negatives.
