Fans to honour Joey Jones at Stok Cae Ras in Wrexham
On July 22, Joey sadly passed away, aged 70, after 376 appearances for Wrexham AFC. All are most welcome to attend the celebration of Joey's life which is to be held in The Macron Stand of The Racecourse (STōK Cae Ras) on Wednesday, August 20 at 12.30 pm. Joey Jones (Image: Newsquest) Following the celebration of his life there will be a strictly private committal with attendance by invitation only. Robert Bros ask that everyone respects the families wishes for privacy at this stage of the day. There is no formal dress code, everyone is welcome to come as they feel comfortable - team colours very welcome. Due to the large expected attendance, and to assist with safety, seating and stewarding, entry tickets will need to be booked online and presented on the gates. Entry is free of charge which is for safety purposes only, and a link with access to ticket downloads will be made available in the coming days. Since Joey's passing, tributes have poured in from dedicated fans, and his loving friends and family and former teammates. JOEY JONES NEWS The Llandudno-born player left Wrexham in 1975 to join boyhood heroes Liverpool in 1975 where he made 72 appearances. He returned to Wrexham in 1978 for £210,000 - for a club record fee that stood until the £300,000 signing of Ollie Palmer in January 2022, following Rob Mac and Ryan Reynolds' takeover of the club. Mourners have since visited the Racecourse to place floral tributes outside the grounds in honour of his memory.
