Rhydian Jones played tennis for 24 hours for cancer charity
Rhydian Jones embarked on the challenge at Llandybie Tennis Club to support the Sir Gareth Edwards Cancer Charity, which helped his family when his wife, Angharad, was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma in 2023, just months after their wedding.
The charity, which supports young adults in Wales aged 15 to 35 living with cancer, provided crucial support to the couple and their daughter, Mabli, while Angharad was receiving treatment.
One year into remission, the family decided to show their gratitude by raising funds for the charity.
Rhydian's Serve and Stride for Cancer 24 & 13.1 challenges were born out of this desire.
On Saturday, August 9, at 12pm, Rhydian started his first challenge, playing tennis non-stop for 24 hours.
Throughout the marathon, Rhydian was accompanied by his friend and fellow tennis player, Carwyn Gape.
An array of other players also joined in to support the pair throughout the day and night.
On Sunday, as the marathon concluded, family, friends, and supporters gathered to celebrate the achievement.
An air horn marked the end of the challenge.
So far, Rhydian has raised more than £6,000 through his Go Fund Me page.
Rhydian will now take a couple of months to prepare for the second part of his challenge.
On October 5, he will participate in the Cardiff Half Marathon.
