Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen no longer owns home after major life update
The 60-year-old nearly drowned while making a Netflix show. Changing Rooms millionaire Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen no longer owns his own home. The TV star and design guru has handed over his Cotswolds estate to his sons-in-law. The 60-year-old survived a terrifying ordeal during a Netflix production, with the "end of life crisis" coming while he was participating in the platform's 'Celebrity Bear Hunt'. In the midst of filming, Llewelyn-Bowen had a brush with death. The chilling event saw him falling unconscious after being pulled under a boat during a water stunt. Now focusing on his future, the 'Changing Rooms' icon is "no longer lord of the manor" at his Cotswolds property, where he resides in the main house with his wife Jackie, also 60. Their youngest daughter Hermione, 27, and her spouse also live at the property, while his eldest daughter Cecile, 30, lives just a stone's throw away on the same grounds with her husband and their two kids. Laurence said: "One of the most amusing things was having to sit down with a solicitor for them to assess whether Jackie and I were being coerced into this by our bullying sons-in-law. "Our friends just can't believe it. They go, 'what happens if you all fall out?'" With a net worth of £8 million, the celebrity penned in his Sunday Times column his rationale: "We're not going to be those old people sitting on a great big pile of cash. Terribly unhappy, terribly lonely. Owning a lot of stuff but not actually having the benefit of it. "We are very, very privileged, but we have made this decision. We have manifested this life." In an intriguing turn of events, the property deeds have been placed in the names of his daughters' husbands, with Hermione commenting: "Hilariously, Cecile and I aren't on the deeds, because we inherit it anyway - it's actually the husbands." Llewelyn-Bowen opened up in a January column about the grave incident he experienced on Bear Grylls' survival show 'Celebrity Bear Hunt', which was broadcast the following month in February. His harrowing experience still weighed heavily on him. While filming in Costa Rica, the then-59-year-old interior designer was involved in a water-based task that required jumping from a boat. The Mirror reports he became entangled in a bungee line and was dragged underwater beneath the vessel. The frightening event extended for agonising minutes until the production's safety crew rescued the unconscious television star from peril. Before his stint on the reality show, the famous face reflected on his wife's opinion. He noted: "She feels it's got midlife crisis written all over it, although, as I keep telling her, I'm too old to have a midlife crisis, this is more like an end of life crisis. She's actually, frankly, incredibly jealous. She would love to do it and has always been mildly irritated that no one's ever asked her to do something like this. "Because she literally has always had in her handbag, a SAS Survival Guide, to get herself out of all sorts. I meant to bring it actually and again, how foolishly, I completely forgot." According to the Mail, Llewelyn-Bowen invited his offspring and their families over to his posh Cotswolds estate after a revelation. He and his wife Jackie realised they "were rattling around the house like dried peas in a luxury tin." The addition of family life added new vibrancy to their lives, with the celebrity musing: "We certainly aren't sliding into our sixtieth year with boredom calling. We want to use our time wisely and valuably. The way you design your world helps the way you feel. "We have our big manor house filled with children and pieces of brightly coloured plastic and Peppa Pig again. I think its something that more and more people should be doing, for us boomers generation we're all sort of surprised we've made it to 60. I think everyone thought we would live fast and die young rather than live very, very slowly and die really quite old."

Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen no longer owns his own home after major life change
Changing Rooms star Laurence Llewellyn-Bowen and his wife Jackie have made the decision to gift their Cotswolds estate to their daughters' husbands, meaning they no longer own their own home TV star and design guru Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen has disclosed that he's handed over his Cotswolds estate to his sons-in-law, meaning he no longer owns a home. This revelation comes on the heels of his candid admission about still reeling from a terrifying ordeal during a Netflix production. The 60 year old shared in January that he was grappling with an "end of life crisis" following a chilling event while participating in Netflix's 'Celebrity Bear Hunt'. Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen saw 'Holly Willoughby as angel' after nearly dying
Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen has told Yahoo about the moment he saw an angel in the form of Holly Willoughby after nearly dying on the set of Celebrity Bear Hunt. In conversation with Yahoo UK, the interior designer shared the near-death experience was like a scene from a "disaster movie". The 59-year-old said he "was not breathing" and "blacked out" before Bear Grylls resuscitated him — all while the cameras were still rolling. But it was Holly Willoughby who made a huge impact on him after the ordeal. I saw this beautiful blonde with sunlight behind her and lace... And luckily it was Holly! Making light of the scary situation, Llewelyn-Bowen half joked to Yahoo UK: "I had a nasty moment where I was actually blacked out on the beach and I came to and I saw this beautiful blonde with sunlight behind her and lace... And luckily it was Holly! "When she leaned forward and said, 'You alright, Lawrence?' I knew it was Holly, it wasn't the angel Gabriel. But the angel Gabriel looks anything like Holly Willoughby, I think the angel Gabriel is gonna be very chuffed to hear that." Llewelyn-Bowen got into trouble when he was left unable to breathe in shark-infested waters during one of the first Celebrity Bear Hunt challenges. "When you say freak accident, it was an accident that happened to a freak! It's important to stress," he joked. In all seriousness, he was quick to explain: "I just got too overexcited, there I was — [a] 60-year-old grandfather — let loose on a Costa Rican jungle and in the middle of the sea. In my head I was all sorts of things. I was all sorts of Marvel superheroes — actually, physically I wasn't!" Joined by his co-star Steph McGovern in the exclusive chat, she didn't completely agree with Llewelyn-Bowen's retelling of what happened. "He'd leapt off a speedboat at speed in a full gear with cameras on him and you'd got to raft in shark-infested waters, like up to that you'd done loads! You were that Marvel hero," She said. Llewelyn-Bowen delved into the details of how the moment unfolded. He said: "I got stuck under the raft. There was a moment where the waves were doing this and I was underwater for a while. But I could see all the safety divers and everything, I never felt this is where it ends. "I just felt, well, this is another part of something that I need to confront. I need to get the other side of. And I think in many ways that was where I went wrong. If I'd at that point just gone, 'Oh, right, I've screwed up here.' I think it would have been a bit more straightforward, but actually I didn't. "I then thought, 'Right, OK', when I'd freed myself from the raft, I then started trying to get up onto the raft. I was throwing myself at the raft, like a kind of very grumpy rhino hitting a wall, and that's when I suddenly realised that I was not breathing. "I had no oxygen and that's when I blacked out and that's when I suddenly had Bear all over me." No the TV presenter wasn't terrified as you might expect in the scenario. He said: "I think it must have been much more terrifying for this lot. I felt almost quite peaceful about the fact that everybody was doing absolute [best to help], it was in the midst of this kind of disaster movie with all of this triage going on, all of this Baywatch going on. This lot were just like, what?" Sheepishly, McGovern admitted she hadn't noticed Llewelyn-Bowen was struggling in the water. "Oh ta!" He quipped in response, "Oh do you know what she was like he's doing it for attention!" Once the Packed Lunch star did notice Llewelyn-Bowen was in trouble, she naturally started to worry. "Then it was me and Mel B and we both just started to panic for you. We were like, 'Oh my God', this is I mean that's the thing is that you get so immersed." Llewelyn-Bowen shared his admiration for Celebrity Race Across the World star Kola Bokinni who pushed on with the challenge. He said: "Kola just carried on and did the challenge on his own, which just sort of shows quite how he is the Marvel superhero, for goodness sake." It's clear the experience taught Llewelyn-Bowen a lot as he come away feeling enriched. "We're show ponies," he said. "What is so joyful about all of this is when the push and the shove come together, which is absolutely what was engineered here [filming Celebrity Bear Hunt], in fact, we can survive as human beings. We can survive as animals." Celebrity Bear Hunt is now streaming on Netflix.
