Man accused of using Snapchat to lure, assault girl

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A Plymouth-area man is accused of using Snapchat to entice and assault a 14-year-old Barry County girl. Local 4 Detroit reports that Charles Willis, 22, has been charged with kidnapping, enticing a minor and criminal sexual conduct for allegedly luring a minor into his home using Snapchat and buying her a two-hour Uber ride from Barry County to get there. Detectives said Willis pressured the teen to travel to his home in Northville Township and paid for her cross-state Uber ride, Local 4 reported. Police believe he told the 14-year-old to hide out in his basement, where he allegedly isolated and sexually assaulted her for two days. She was found in the early hours of April 27, walking alone along a Northville road with a blanket wrapped around her. 'Not really knowing anybody in the area, not having any support, not being able to reach out and call for help or have the ability to reach out to someone and say, 'Hey I need some help right now,' it's certainly…very terrifying,' Lt. Pat Reinke of the Northville Township Police said, Local 4 reported. He's being held at the Wayne County Jail. His bond is set at $1 million. Local 4 reports that he was charged five months ago with felony sexual assault involving a minor in Macomb County. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
