Tribute to 'adventurous' boy, 15, in Lochore paddleboarding death

A family has paid tribute to a "bold and adventurous" 15-year-old boy killed in a paddleboarding incident on a Fife Scotland named Alexander McNab as the body recovered from the water at Lochore Meadows in Crosshill on Sunday fire service and coastguard were involved in searches of Loch Ore, after reports of concern for Alexander in the water at 17:25 on said the death was not suspicious and a report would be submitted to the procurator fiscal. In a statement, Alexander's family said he was "adventurous, bold, hard-working, ambitious and always looking out and caring for others".They added: "He is a much-loved son, brother, grandson, cousin, friend and boyfriend and a big part of his local community."Alexander will be forever missed by those that knew him and loved him."Det Sgt Duncan Thompson, of Police Scotland, said: "Our thoughts are very much with Alexander's family at this very distressing time and we have specialist officers supporting them."

A TEENAGER who died after going missing at a popular Scots beauty spot has been named as Alexander McNab. The 15-year-old's body was recovered from the water at Lochore Meadows, Fife, on Sunday afternoon — sparking an outpouring of grief from the tight-knit local community. 2 2 Emergency crews and police raced to the loch near Crosshill just after 1:20pm on June 29, after desperate searches for the youngster who vanished while paddleboarding the day before. Cops confirmed there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the tragic death, and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal. Heartbroken loved ones paid tribute to the 'bold, caring' lad, describing him as a shining light who touched everyone he met. In a statement issued through Police Scotland, Alexander's devastated family asked for privacy as they try to come to terms with the unimaginable loss. They said: 'Alexander was much loved, caring, adventurous, bold, hard-working, ambitious and always looking out and caring for others. 'He is a much-loved son, brother, grandson, cousin, friend and boyfriend and a big part of his local community. 'Alexander will be forever missed by those that knew him and loved him. 'The family would appreciate privacy at this emotional time.' A body has been recovered in the hunt for a missing 15-year-old paddleboarder in Scotland. Search teams pulled the body of a 'male youth' from the water at around 1pm today after the teenager's disappearance triggered a major search. He had gone missing on Saturday evening in the waters at Lochore Meadows in Fife. The search of the 260-acre Loch continued into the night before rescue crews made the tragic discovery today. A police spokesperson said: 'Around 1.20pm on Sunday, 29 June, 2025, the body of a male youth was recovered from the water at Lochore Meadows, Crosshill, Fife. 'Formal identification has yet to take place however the family of a 15-year-old paddle boarder reported missing on Saturday, 28 June, have been informed. 'There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.' Over a million visitors travel to the park each year, while the loch is used as a training zone for the University of St Andrews Boat Club. It is also the home of the Scottish Open Water Championships.

The body of a male youth has been recovered from a loch where extensive searches were taking place for a missing 15-year-old paddle boarder. Emergency services were called on Saturday afternoon after concerns were raised for a male who had been in the about 5.25pm at Loch Ore in Lochore Meadows Country Park in Fife, Scotland. Temperatures in the area had hit 20C (68F). Firefighters and the coastguard launched a search with a no-fly zone put in place from Sunday until Monday morning. Police Scotland said that the body of a male youth was recovered from the loch at about 1.20pm on Sunday. 'Formal identification has yet to take place. However, the family of a 15-year-old paddle boarder reported missing on Saturday, 28 June, have been informed,' the force said. 'There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.'
