Angels complete season sweep of Dodgers with late rally
Tigers shut out White Sox on combined 2-hitter ABAHEIM: Logan O'Hoppe hit a go-ahead two-run single with two outs in the eighth inning, rallying the Los Angeles Angels to a 6-5 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday in Anaheim, Calif. The Angels completed their first-ever six-game Freeway Series sweep of their Southern California rivals. The Angels' only other season sweep vs. the Dodgers came when they went 4-0 in 2019. The Dodgers, who took their fourth straight loss, fell one game behind the San Diego Padres in the National League West. Los Angeles hadn't trailed in the division since April 27. With the bases loaded and the Dodgers up 5-4 in the eighth, O'Hoppe lined a 103.2 mph fastball from reliever Edgardo Henriquez into center field to drive in Christian Moore and Taylor Ward, who had walked against Justin Wrobleski (4-4). ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — Shohei Ohtani yielded four runs on five hits while pitching a season-high 4 1/3 innings, but Logan O'Hoppe delivered a two-run single in the eighth inning and the Los Angeles Angels swept the season Freeway Series with a 6-5 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday night. Ohtani fanned Mike Trout twice among his seven strikeouts. He also tripled and scored in the first inning, but struck out in his final three at-bats.

Washington manager Dave Martinez ejected after a replay review goes against the Nationals
ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — Washington manager Dave Martinez was ejected from Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Angels in the fifth inning after a replay review went against the Nationals. The review occurred after a wild play in which Washington almost scored two runs on a grounder to first. With one out and the bases loaded, Luis García Jr. hit a sharp grounder to first, but after fielding it, Nolan Schanuel took the time to tag first before throwing home, where Drew Millas slid in safely. The ball rolled a few feet away from catcher Logan O'Hoppe, and Jacob Young tried to score as well. He was called out when O'Hoppe retrieved the ball and got back to the plate in time. Washington challenged the play, but the call stood. Martinez had some words from the dugout and was tossed by plate umpire Mark Ripperger. The run in the fifth gave Washington a 2-1 lead. ___ AP MLB:

What began as a routine night of baseball changed in a hurry. The New York Yankees played the Los Angeles Angels on Monday, May 26, 2025. But in the eighth something unexpected occurred, something that hushed the crowd. Logan O'Hoppe leaves game after scary bat incident Yankees rookie Jorbit Vivas is in the box to lead off the top of the eighth inning. He's a left-handed hitter. Behind him crouched Angels catcher Logan O'Hoppe, as usual. Vivas made contact with the pitch and swung his bat all the way through—but on the follow-through, his bat hit O'Hoppe right in the head. The impact knocked off O'Hoppe's catcher's mask. He looked stunned but stayed in the game for the rest of the inning. Before the ninth began, though, the Angels made a call. They took O'Hoppe out of the game to get him checked for a possible head injury. Angels manager Ron Washington later told reporters that Logan O'Hoppe said he felt fine, but the team didn't want to take any chances. According to they are keeping a close watch on him and his condition. Jorbit Vivas is still new to the league. He joined the Yankees in late 2023. He made his big league debut on May 2, 2025, after an injury to Jazz Chisholm Jr. Since then, Vivas has been working hard to find his rhythm. He hit his first home run just a few days ago, on May 22, against the Rangers. That same night, the Yankees beat the Angels 5-1. Ryan Yarbrough pitched six strong innings, and Anthony Volpe delivered a big three-run double. For now, everyone is waiting to see if Logan O'Hoppe will return for Tuesday's game.
