I've used the Logitech G522 for two weeks — this is why it's my new favorite gaming headset

If you're a gamer like me, then you're familiar with Logitech G gaming headsets like the G Pro and Astro lines. While those are phenomenal devices, they're admittedly too expensive for most folks. Thankfully, the new Logitech G522 Lightspeed is here to deliver a premium gaming headset experience at an affordable price. In my experience this headset ticks all the right boxes. It delivers crystal clear sound that puts you right in the middle of a game, and can last up to 70 hours with its RGB lighting disabled. The headset's lightweight and flexible design also makes it easy to wear during extended gaming sessions. It also offers three connectivity options and a removable microphone. We'll have a full review of the Logitech G522 Lightspeed soon, but I want to detail why I've fallen in love with this device after using it for the past two weeks. Right now, it's easily one of the best gaming headsets out there. Here are three reasons why. The Logitech G522 Lightspeed is a gaming headset offering a comfortable fit and excellent audio quality. Featuring some premium-grade features at a relatively affordable price, it's a great option for PC and PS5 users looking for their next gaming headset. A gaming headset can have the best audio and last for dozens of hours, but if it's not comfortable to wear, then I'm looking elsewhere. This isn't a problem with the G522 Lightspeed, as it's one of the most comfortable headsets I've worn. The dual-layer memory foam ear cups not only cushion, but they also keep your ears relatively cool. The earcups are pretty large and do an excellent job of covering my ears entirely. I prefer the soft fabric covering the ear cups over the leather found on similar devices, so I'm glad Logitech went with fabric. You can't adjust the headband's length, but its suspension band helps accommodate most head sizes—even a big head like mine. The suspension band has ridges that provide better airflow to keep one's head cool. And since the G522 Lightspeed only weighs 290g, or a little over half a pound, I sometimes forget I'm wearing it. The G522 Lightspeed offers excellent audio in whatever game you're playing. It's easy to tell where in-game sounds are coming from, which can prevent enemies from sneaking up on you in first-person shooters like Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. But even outside of competitive games, the spatial audio offers a more immersive experience. This headset offers fantastic bass that helps everything sound richer and fuller. Beast roars in Monster Hunter Wilds sound punchy and convincing, as do shotgun blasts in Doom: The Dark Ages. Bass, or the lack thereof, is something that can make or break speakers for me, so I'm glad the G522 Lightspeed doesn't disappoint in this area. Speaking of sound quality, the removable 48 kHz mic helps you sound great, whether you're playing online or in a video call. I recorded a clip of myself talking, and was pleased with how full my voice sounded. The friends I played Monster Hunter Wilds with also said I sounded as good on the G522 Lightspeed as I do on the much more expensive Corsair Virtuoso Max. Logitech says the headset can last up to 70 hours with RGB disabled and up to 30 hours with RGB turned on. Based on my experience, I'm inclined to believe this claim. I've used the G522 Lightspeed for two weeks and haven't had to charge it yet. Mind you, I'm playing with RGB turned off and have probably used it for a total of 20 hours between gaming and video calls. Regardless, this is a truly long-lasting headset that won't quickly run out of battery at an inopportune time. A great gaming headset that doesn't cost an arm and a leg can be difficult to find, but the Logitech G522 Lightspeed makes that task much easier. It's comfortable to wear, delivers awesome audio quality and can last for weeks between recharges. I haven't finished putting it through its paces, but based on my experience so far this is shaping up to be another winning Logitech headset that's great for gamers and PC users alike. We'll have a full review of the Logitech G522 for you soon, so stay tuned!

The newly revealed Logitech G522 Lightspeed could become the new mid-range wireless gaming headset to beat

Updated, May 23, 2025 - Logitech has lowered the expected price of the G522 Lightspeed from $179.99 to $159.99 in the US. The story has been updated to reflect this, but otherwise remains as originally published. Logitech G has revealed the Logitech G522 Lightspeed This wireless gaming headset boasts an impressive feature set and a great microphone It hits shelves on June 16 for $159.99 / £139.99 / AU$299.95 Gaming accessory brand Logitech G has announced the Logitech G522 Lightspeed, a new wireless gaming headset intended to supersede the popular Logitech G733 Lightspeed. The G522 Lightspeed features redesigned earcups, with a wider shape and an added layer of memory foam for enhanced comfort. It has a lightweight, adjustable fabric headband, which now rests flatter than its predecessor and has built-in ridges for better cooling. The exterior of each ear cup features four eye-catching customizable RGB lighting zones, which can be tweaked to the color of your choice in the Logitech G Hub desktop software. It's also compatible with the Logitech G mobile app. Under the hood, the headset is packing Logitech G's highest-fidelity 40mm Pro-G drivers with 24-bit / 48kHz signal processing for enhanced audio clarity and detail. The headset comes bundled with a removable omnidirectional microphone, which offers an impressive 16-bit / 48kHz bandwidth. It's the same microphone found in the excellent, but much more expensive, Astro A50 X, which impressed with its crystal clear recordings in my hands-on testing. On the Logitech G522 Lightspeed, the microphone has the added benefit of a built-in red LED indicator that illuminates when it's muted. As its name would suggest, the headset can connect to PC or PlayStation 5 via Logitech's Lightspeed wireless dongle (which is included in the box), but also supports traditional Bluetooth for the aforementioned platforms in addition to Nintendo Switch and mobile. There's also the option for wired play via its USB Type-C connector. Logitech claims up to 40 hours of battery life with the default lighting on, or up to 90 hours with it disabled, which is a pretty impressive figure. It's not quite the up to 200 hours promised by the competing HyperX Cloud III S, but it's still more than enough juice for a few weeks' worth of intense gaming sessions. The Logitech G522 Lightspeed hits shelves on June 16 in white or black colorways. It costs $159.99 / £139.99 / AU$299.95, putting it in the midrange price bracket. Its expansive feature set seems very promising, but only time will tell whether it becomes one of the best PC gaming headsets or best PS5 headsets around. Logitech's G522 Lightspeed is the comfy headset my long gaming sessions need

Alright, I'll come clean; I haven't pulled an all-nighter to blitz through the latest AAA game release in years. But Logitech's new G522 Lightspeed would be my top pick gaming headset for anyone that doesn't have to worry about trivial things like childcare and getting up for work. As well as being gloriously comfy, these keenly-priced cans have all the connectivity you'd want and will outlast the most marathon play sessions. Sitting above the G535 (and taking more than a bit of inspiration from the higher-end G733), the G522 Lightspeed is a curvier, altogether sleeker headset. It also looks the part thanks to the giant Lightsync RGB light panels built into each ear cup. Low-carbon aluminium and up to 27% post-consumer recycled plastic have been used for the frame, keeping weight to a head- and neck-friendly 290g. A breathable suspension-style headband then relieves the maximum amount of pressure off your bonce. The ear cups also have particularly pillow-like cushions that completely envelop your lugs, and won't cause discomfort if you're wearing glasses or earrings. Aimed mainly at PC gamers (the Astro range is still Logitech's suggested go-to for console gamers), the G522 Lightspeed has the firm's familiar tri-mode connectivity for Lightspeed wireless, wired USB, and Bluetooth gaming. It'll keep connected as far as 30m away from your gaming rig (handy for midnight fridge runs) and has a big enough battery to last for up to 40 hours between charges. Or 90 hours if you can bear to turn off the RGB illumination. 40mm biocellulose drivers provide 24-bit/48kHz playback. Logitech promises pinpoint precision and crystal clarity, so scouting enemies by sound alone should be a cakewalk. A 10-band EQ and multiple game profiles are available for tweaking through the firm's G Hub software and Logitech G mobile app. There's also a detachable boom mic good for 16-bit/48kHz recording – though Logitech's BLUE VO!CE signal processing can't stop you from shouting during especially hectic moments, so it's on you not to wake the rest of the house. Launching in black and white colour variants, the G522 Lightspeed is set to go on sale in mid-June. Expect to pay $179/£140 €169, with headsets shipping direct from the Logitech G website.
