Dean Cain hits back at John Oliver

Dean Cain has hit back at John Oliver after the presenter ridiculed his decision to join ICE. The Lois + Clark: The New Adventures of Superman actor revealed last week he had signed up to work for US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) amid the federal agency's recruitment drive in order to support US President Donald Trump's scheme to boost immigration raids and Sunday's (10.08.25) episode of Last Week Tonight saw the host unable to resist mocking Dean. John said: "You know, there's an old saying in Hollywood, 'If all you can get is Dean Cain, you are f*****. "Now, I'm not saying that ICE isn't finding people. I'm just saying, when you are reduced to pinning a badge on the 59-year-old star of The Dog Who Saved Christmas, The Dog Who Saved Christmas Vacation, The Dog Who Saved the Holidays, The Dog Who Saved Halloween, The Dog Who Saved Easter, and The Dog Who Saved Summer, maybe you are in trouble." However, John joked there was one positive about Dean's new job. He quipped: "No need for that guy to wear a mask because the chances of anyone recognizing him are f****** zero." And towards the end of the episode, John advised the audience on how to respond if approached by ICE agents. He said: "Attorneys told us the only two things you should say to them are, 'Am I free to leave?' And 'I want to speak to a lawyer.' That's it. You have the right to remain silent. "And I recognise that in some cases you may be unable to help yourself from saying, 'Didn't you used to be Superman? I thought you died.' ... But that really is it." Within hours of the episode airing, Dean reshared a clip and hit back at John. He wrote on X: "He stole that mask joke from the internet. "And he also laughed hysterically when Trump said he was going to run for President. Case closed. "Those movies were sweet, by the way!" Meanwhile, after sharing one of his ICE recruitment videos on X, a follower appealed for South Park to parody Dean's new career move - which the actor was on board with. He responded: "That would be awesome. @SouthPark is amazing."

Dean Cain signs up to work for US Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Entertainment News

Dean Cain has signed up to work for US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The actor will be signed up as an agent "ASAP" amid the federal agency's recruitment drive in order to support US President Donald Trump's scheme to boost immigration raids. Dean told Fox News host Jesse Watters he had decided to join ICE after the presenter shared a recruitment video on his Instagram. He said: "I'm actually a sworn deputy sheriff and a reserve police officer — I wasn't part of ICE, but once I put that out there and you put a little blurb on your show, it went crazy. "So now I've spoken with some officials over at ICE, and I will be sworn in as an ICE agent, ASAP." Dean believes the current immigration system is "broken" so he is keen to do what he can to support the president. He said: "This country was built on patriots stepping up, whether it was popular or not, and doing the right thing. I truly believe this is the right thing. "We have a broken immigration system. Congress needs to fix it, but in the interim, President Trump ran on this. He is delivering on this. This is what people voted for. It's what I voted for and he's going to see it through, and I'll do my part and help make sure it happens. "I'm stepping up. Hopefully, a whole bunch of other former officers, former ICE agents, will step up and we'll meet those recruitment goals immediately, and we'll help protect this country." Dean recently expressed concern that James Gunn has made Superman too "woke" in his new movie, which stars David Corenswet. Dean — who played the superhero in Lois + Clark: The New Adventures of Superman from 1993 to 1997 — told TMZ: "How woke is Hollywood going to make this character? How much is Disney going to change their Snow White? Why are they going to change these characters [to] exist for the times?" James had previously compared his movie to "the story of America", with a central character who is "an immigrant that came from other places and populated the country". Referencing the traditional Superman motto of "Truth, justice, and the American way" — which has evolved over the years and has most recently been "Truth, justice, and a better tomorrow" — Dean said: "We know Superman is an immigrant - he's a freaking alien... "The 'American way' is immigrant-friendly, tremendously immigrant-friendly. But there are rules. "You can't come in saying, 'I want to get rid of all the rules in America, because I want it to be more like Somalia.' Well, that doesn't work, because you had to leave Somalia to come here... There has to be limits, because we can't have everybody in the United States. We can't have everybody, society will fail. So there have to be limits." [[nid:721104]]

Dean Cain worries new Superman movie is 'woke'

Dean Cain is concerned James Gunn has made Superman too "woke". The 58-year-old actor - who played the superhero in Lois + Clark: The New Adventures of Superman from 1993 to 1997 - admitted he has reservations about the filmmaker's new movie, which stars David Corenswet, and his vision for the character. He told TMZ: "How woke is Hollywood going to make this character? How much is Disney going to change their Snow White? Why are they going to change these characters to exist for the times?" Referencing the traditional Superman motto of "Truth, justice, and the American way" - which has evolved over the years and has most recently been "Truth, justice, and a better tomorrow", Dean said: "We know Superman is an immigrant — he's a freaking alien... "The 'American way' is immigrant friendly, tremendously immigrant friendly. But there are rules. "You can't come in saying, 'I want to get rid of all the rules in America, because I want it to be more like Somalia.' Well that doesn't work, because you had to leave Somalia to come here... Dean's comments came after James described Superman - which also stars Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor - as a tale of "basic human kindness". He told the Sunday Times newspaper: "'I mean, Superman is the story of America. An immigrant that came from other places and populated the country, but for me it is mostly a story that says basic human kindness is a value and is something we have lost ... "It's about human kindness and obviously there will be jerks out there who are just not kind and will take it as offensive just because it is about kindness. But screw them." And the DC Studios CEO believes a story of positivity and goodness is much needed in the world. He added: "This Superman does seem to come at a particular time when people are feeling a loss of hope in other people's goodness. "I'm telling a story about a guy who is uniquely good, and that feels needed now because there is a meanness that has emerged due to cultural figures being mean online. "And I include myself in this. It is ad infinitum, millions of people having tantrums online. How are we supposed to get anywhere as a culture? "We don't know what's real, and that is a really difficult place for the human brain to be. "If I could press a button to make the internet disappear I'd consider it. And, no, I don't make films to change the world, but if a few people could be just a bit nicer after this it would make me happy."
