Murder trial suspended
The trial of a man accused of murdering an Auckland couple in their Ellerslie home in November 2023 has been suspended. Lok Fung Lorrence Li, 27, had pleaded not guilty to murdering Fuk-Fu Joseph Kwok and wife Mei Han Chong and conspiring to murder another woman months prior. Proceedings were due to start on Monday, but were delayed, with Li's trial commencing on Thursday. However, yesterday the trial was suspended and the jury were discharged. Justice Johnstone said a new trial for Li will be held at a later date.
