No joy as Sivasangari, Rachel and Eain Yow lose in their tourneys
PETALING JAYA: There was no cheer for Malaysia as national squash players fell short of clinching titles at two separate tournaments on Sunday (April 27).
World No. 11 S. Sivasangari lost to Nouran Gohar of Egypt 7-11, 12-14, 9-11 in 43 minutes in the gold-level Grasshopper Cup in Zurich, Switzerland.
It was Sivasangari's fifth defeat to Gohar.
She has only won a gold-level title once, at the London Classic last year.
Meanwhile, in Washington DC, Ng Eain Yow and Rachel Arnold also crashed out in the men's and women's finals respectively at the Squash on Fire Open.
World No. 10 Eain Yow lost 9-11, 9-11, 5-11 to No. 8 Marwan Elshorbagy of England in 38 minutes.
Rachel, ranked 20th in the world, lost 4-11, 3-11, 11-9, 9-11 to world No. 10 Amanda Sobhy of the United States. It was Rachel's third straight defeat to Amanda.
