Charge laid after crash causes Highway 402 closure

(Brent Lale/CTV News London) A London man has been charged after a crash that closed down a section of Highway 402 for several hours on Sunday. Police said around 1:40 a.m., the driver of a transport truck lost control and ended up in the centre median near Seed Road in Adelaide Metcalf. One lane of traffic was closed for the initial investigation and was opened up around 12:30 p.m., when Middlesex OPP fully closed the westbound lanes to assist with removal of the vehicle — the highway reopened around 4 p.m. The 28-year-old driver of the truck has been charged with careless driving. No injuries were reported.

A London man is facing charges after an early morning break-in on Thursday. Around 3:30 a.m., London police said a suspect was seen breaking into a business on Commissioners Road East near Adelaide Street South. Witnesses contacted police regarding the incident. Officers arrived on scene, arrested the suspect without incident. A search revealed break-and-enter tools. The building sustained around $1,000 in damage. A 33-year-old London man is now facing charges for break-and-enter with intent, possession of break-in instruments, and breach of probation.

THE CANADIAN PRESS/Geoff Robins A London man has been charged after breaking and entering a building in the south end of the city early this morning. The 43 year old broke a window and entered a business in the area of Main Street and Campbell Street North at approximately 1 a.m. After attempting to flee on foot, the suspect was located by police a short distance away. A backpack of stolen items from the business totalling approximately $2,200 was recovered. The suspect has been charged with break enter and theft, resisting arrest and failing to comply with an undertaking. He's scheduled to appear in court today.

Man charged following police chase car crash on M4

A 37-year-old man has been charged following a police chase that resulted in a crash on the M4. Officers had been in pursuit of a man driving a black Audi Q3 following a burglary in Pengam, south Wales, at about 01:45 BST on Tuesday. At 02:50 the vehicle was involved in a crash on the eastbound exit slip road at junction 17 for Chippenham, Wiltshire. A man from London was arrested at the scene and charged with driving a motor vehicle dangerously, possession of a firearm and going equipped for burglary. Gwent Police said he had been released under investigation. Det Supt Steven Maloney said: "Our investigation into these matters continues and we're keen to identify the other two men reportedly involved in the burglary. "We understand that the collision which followed the reported burglary caused a significant impact to many motorists, so I'm grateful to the public for their patience and understanding as officers carried out their enquiries."
