County Press becomes Bronze Patron of the IW Chamber of Commerce
The Isle of Wight County Press is proud to have become a Bronze Patron member of the Isle of Wight Chamber of Commerce. The newspaper is the longest serving member of the chamber, having been founded in 1884 and delivering trusted Island news ever since. It has joined an exclusive list of other Island businesses, which will meet regularly to share ideas, connect with each other and enjoy expert-led discussions and social events. Chamber CEO Steven Holbrook said: 'We are really pleased to welcome the County Press to the IW Chamber's Bronze Patron Scheme. "As our longest serving members, it's great to have them involved in this progressive group of like-minded businesses. "We very much hope they get as much benefit as those already part of the scheme.' County Press praised for its strong news coverage at Newspaper Awards
The Isle of Wight County Press was praised for its rich mix of stories and strong news coverage at the prestigious Newspaper Awards last night (Wednesday). The paper was one of six shortlisted in the Best Local Weekly Newspaper category - with Newsquest sister paper the Impartial Reporter taking the prize. The County Press was commended, with judges saying: "Celebrating 140 years in print, this paper continues to offer great value with its rich mix of stories and strong news coverage." Gary Cullum, director of the awards, said print is still "a force to be reckoned with" and the mission remains unchanged despite the digital revolution transforming news. Our visits for February were 1.789 million when the second biggest website recorded 925,817.

County Press shortlisted for prestigious award for third year running
The Isle of Wight County Press has been shortlisted in the prestigious Newspaper Awards for the third year running. The newsroom is celebrating after making the shortlist in the Weekly Newspaper of the Year category. It is up against the Salisbury Journal, The Impartial Reporter, The Oxford Times, Cambridge Independent, and the New Milton Advertiser and Lymington Times. The 2025 Newspaper Awards is focused entirely on recognising excellence in the printed newspaper. Winners will be announced at a glittering ceremony at the London Hilton Bankside on April 2. County Press editor Lori Little said: "We are thrilled to be recognised by the industry by being shortlisted for the third year running. "It means not only are we the biggest selling local weekly newspaper in the country, we can say with confidence that we are also one of the best. "This is thanks to our fantastic team of local journalists who care about the Island and want to tell stories that matter, and the Islanders who regularly engage with us. "Our newspaper is 80 to 88 pages each week packed full of news, and we are constantly making changes to improve it, from our eye-catching front pages to new additions such as our new features focussing on pubs, chefs and walks. Figures released by ABC prove the popularity of the printed newspaper amid soaring online figures from 2024 that recently confirmed a record-breaking year for — which is officially the Island's most popular and most read news website. Although we are growing hugely online, our professional journalists pour care and attention into the printed paper, which has been relied on by Islanders since 1884. Exciting changes are coming too. Listening to readers, the Newport-based team will be packing more news into the 80-page paper to fit even more stories in, while retaining popular features such as heritage, letters and spotlights on businesses. Sales figures for the County Press are externally audited and verified at 8,940 a week, with every copy sold accounted for accurately. Newspaper sales are in decline across the industry but the County Press's year on year sales performance continues to perform way above the industry average. The CP has a weekly print readership of more than 31,000 and our brand reaches more than 122,000 on a monthly basis across print and digital, according to the JICREG data as of September 2024.
