William Liang/AP ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — Kevin Newman, Taylor Ward and Luis Rengifo homered to help the Los Angeles Angels beat Texas 6-4 on Monday night, snapping the Rangers' six-game win streak. Kenley Jansen pitched a 1-2-3 ninth inning for his 19th save. The 37-year-old Jansen hasn't allowed an earned run in 16 consecutive appearances, the longest active streak in the American League and the third-longest of his career. Connor Brogdon (2-1) replaced Angels starter Jack Kochanowicz in the fifth and gave up one run in 1 2/3 innings. Kochanowicz, called up from Triple-A Salt Lake earlier in the day, allowed two runs — none earned — in 4 2/3 innings. Josh Jung hit a solo homer and Jonah Heim had an RBI single for the Rangers. Josh Smith and Corey Seager scored when Adolis García reached on an error by right fielder Gustavo Campero, who bobbled a routine flyball. Jacob deGrom (10-3), who was 6-0 in his previous 10 starts, gave up five runs and seven hits with eight strikeouts in 5 1/3 innings. The two-time NL Cy Young Award winner has allowed at least one home run in five consecutive games in the same season for the first time in his 12-year career. Key moment Ward's leadoff homer in the sixth gave the Angels the lead for good, and Rengifo added a two-run drive off reliever Jacob Webb to make it 6-3. Mike Trout continues to reach career milestones in his 15th year of his major leaguer career. Trout recorded his 1,000th career RBI with a 2-run home run in the Los Angeles Angels' 4-1 victory over the Seattle Mariners on Sunday, July 27, He became just the third Angel to get his first 1,000 RBIs entirely with the franchise, along with Garret Anderson and Tim Salmon. The three-time American League MVP sent a ball 443 feet into center field to increase the Angels' lead to 4-0 in the bottom of the 5th inning. (AP Photo/Pamela Smith) ATLANTA (AP) — The Los Angeles Angels reinstated outfielder Jorge Soler from the injured list before Tuesday night's game against the Atlanta Braves. Soler had been out since June 18 with lower-back inflammation. Utility player Scott Kingery was optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake. Advertisement Soler was expected to return as the Angels' primary right fielder. His return comes just in time for a visit to his former team. The Angels acquired Soler from the Braves on Oct. 31, 2024. Soler is hitting .207 with eight homers and 26 RBIs in 237 at-bats. The Braves announced a rotation change for the series. Rookie Didier Fuentes, who is 0-2 with a 10.80 ERA in his first two starts, had his start originally scheduled for Tuesday night pushed back to Wednesday. Angels manager Ron Washington will miss remainder of season on medical leave
Ron Washington, the Los Angeles Angels' 73-year-old manager, will miss the remainder of the season on medical leave, the team announced on June 27. Washington was placed on medical leave June 20 with an unspecified medical condition. Bench coach Ray Montgomery has been named interim manager, with Ryan Goins assuming the role of bench coach. Washington is in his second season as Angels manager and 10th overall, as he led the Texas Rangers to consecutive American League pennants in 2010 and 2011. He managed the Rangers through part of the 2014 season. In between managerial jobs became a valued infield coach for the Atlanta Braves. All-Stars like Dansby Swanson, Freddie Freddie Freeman and Austin Riley crediting Washington for enhancing their defensive game. He has a 103-139 record as Angels manager, with the club climbing to 40-40 this season before Washington went on permanent leave. Montgomery, 55, was named Angels bench coach before the 2022 season and is their former director of player personnel.

Angels' Zach Neto will have tests on shoulder after making error, leaving game in 9th inning
ANAHEIM, Calif. — Shortstop Zach Neto will have tests on his surgically repaired right shoulder after he made an error and abruptly left the Los Angeles Angels' game against the Boston Red Sox in the ninth inning. Neto bobbled Romy Gonzalez's grounder to short before firing his throw over the head of first baseman LaMonte Wade Jr. The Angels' rising star quickly bent over in pain, and he left the game after consulting with the training staff. After the Angels won 3-2 on Christian Moore's 10th-inning homer, Neto said he jammed his right shoulder while sliding headfirst into second on a failed stolen base attempt in the eighth inning. 'I wasn't feeling good (and) probably should have taken myself out of the game,' Neto said. 'But being the competitor that I am, I wanted to try to gut it out. There's a time and place to be a hero, and there's a time and place to get out of the game, and that was probably the time to get out of the game. ... It's feeling good (now). I mean, it's not feeling great, but we're going to see how I feel tomorrow morning, and hopefully I come feeling great.' Neto believes he will have an MRI exam. 'When he made that throw, we just didn't like the way it looked, so we took him out for cautionary (reasons),' Angels acting manager Ray Montgomery said. 'We weren't going to let him go back out there after that.' Neto injured his right shoulder last September and underwent surgery that forced him to miss the first three weeks of the season. He has been one of the Angels' best players for the second straight year, batting .278 with 12 homers, 29 RBIs and an .820 OPS. 'There's always a concern with it being the shoulder I just had my surgery on, but I'm going to be hopeful,' Neto said. Los Angeles closer Kenley Jansen escaped the jam created by Neto's error, keeping the game tied 1-1. Marcelo Mayer drove in a run for Boston in the 10th, but Moore walked it off with his second homer in three innings.
