Teen engineering student dies after 'intentional' gunfire penetrates floor during party
A Michigan college student was killed in an "intentional" shooting when multiple gunshots were fired along the floor during a house party, police said. Connor Lotterman, 19, was struck in the head by a bullet recklessly fired by an unidentified 20-year-old suspect on May 9 at approximately 11:11 p.m., Ottowa County Sheriff's Office confirmed to Fox News Digital. "The shooting was quite intentional," Ottowa County Sheriff's Office Capt. Jake Sparks told Wood-tv. "Multiple rounds were fired. It wasn't like as if it were a one-shot accidental discharge. This was numerous rounds discharged. Although the result of the shooting led to an accidental death, this shooting was intentional." The male suspect then fired multiple rounds through the floor of an upstairs bedroom, police said. The bullets penetrated the floor and one struck Lotterman in the head. Lotterman, an engineering student at Grand Valley State University (GVSU), was transported to the local hospital in critical condition. Alcohol is suspected to be a factor in the incident, police said. All individuals involved in the incident were known to each other, police said. Deputies: GVSU student shot, killed through floor at house party
TALLMADGE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A teenager has died after being shot in the head at a party on May 9 in Tallmadge Township, according to the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office. Deputies on Thursday identified him as Connor Lotterman, a 19-year-old from Tallmadge Township. He was a student studying at Grand Valley State University. It happened just after 11 p.m. Friday at a residence in the area of 2nd Avenue near Lake Michigan Drive. Deputies say that a 20-year-old male was in an upstairs bedroom at the house. Lotterman was downstairs with others at the party. 1 hospitalized following Tallmadge Township shooting The 20-year-old found a gun somewhere in the home, and shot multiple rounds through the floor, deputies say. They say those bullets traveled through the floor and one of them hit Lotterman in the head. Lotterman was taken to the hospital. He later died. The sheriff's office was notified that an autopsy was completed on May 14 and that the death was ruled as accidental. Alcohol is also believed to be a factor, deputies say. All of the people in the residence at the time of the shooting knew each other, according to deputies. Investigators are still working on gathering details and are working with Ottawa County Prosecutor's Office to review potential charges for the 20-year-old, whose name is not being released at this time. One charged with manslaughter following Harpersfield fatal crash investigation
DELHI, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – One Otsego County man has been charged with manslaughter, and one woman charged with multiple felonies following the investigation into a vehicle crash in Delaware County that left one dead, Sheriff Craig DuMond announced Thursday. According to Sheriff DuMond, the crash that occurred on April 14 in the Town of Harpersfield was caused by the driver, 25-year-old Isaiah Caballero, of Oneonta. It is believed he lost control of the car, leaving the roadway and rolling over into a tree which killed one of the four people in the car. During the investigation, the crash reconstruction team located a 'quantity of cocaine as well as a loaded and fully functional Glock style pistol that did not have a serial number,' DuMond said in the release. On Tuesday, April 22, Caballero was arrested by DCSO and charged him with one count of Criminal Possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, a Class B Felony, one count of Criminal Possession of a weapon in the second degree, a Class C Felony, one count of Criminal Possession of a weapon the third degree, a class D Felony, and one count of Vehicular Manslaughter in the second degree. Caballero was arraigned at the Town of Delhi Court and taken to the Ulster County Correctional Facility on $20,000 cash bail or $40,000 secured bond. Caballero remains in the custody of New York State Department of Corrections on unrelated charges. Later that same day, Delaware County Sheriff's Deputies arrested 21-year-old Alexis Lotterman of Walton. Lotterman was charged with one count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the third Degree, a Class B Felony, one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the second degree, a Class C Felony, and one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the third degree,e a Class D Felony. It is alleged that Lotterman was a passenger in the vehicle and was also in possession of the drugs and gun.
