Walking football in Kirkcudbright receives £1,500 boost from Tesco shoppers
Saints Walking Football topped the Tesco Stronger Starts vote in the Kirkcudbright store.
Walking football in Kirkcudbright has received a £1,500 cash boost.
Saints Walking Football topped the Tesco Stronger Starts vote in the Kirkcudbright store.
Tesco Kirkcudbright community champion Louise Macleod recently paid a visit to a walking football session St Mary's Park to present the cheque to Saints chairman Ian McIntyre and walking football organiser Craig Fabian.
Craig said: 'We have an excellent relationship with the team at Tesco who have supported several of our events already. We're delighted to receive the Stronger Starts grant, which will pay for footballs, training equipment and national competition entry fees for our whole season.'
Louise added: 'It's been a pleasure and good fun to work with Saints and see the walking fFootball group progress over the last couple of years.
'Tesco is proud to support groups like this in Kirkcudbright and Stronger Starts is a great opportunity to receive funding.
'We encourage charities and community groups to apply for grants up to £1,500. Drop in and see us or apply now online!'
