New Orleans man pleads guilty to possession of files depicting sexual exploitation of children
NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — A New Orleans man pled guilty on Thursday, July 31, to the possession of images and videos that depict the sexual exploitation of children under 12 years old.
According to the United States Department of Justice, 24-year-old Ervin Dalvecchio Cooper was arrested in May of 2022 after, three months earlier, an investigation was launched by the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation which eventually showed that Cooper uploaded files to a messaging application showing the sexual abuse of children.

Officials say that along with Cooper's arrest came the seizure of multiple electronic items which, when searched, were reportedly found to contain at least 1,005 images and videos of the abuse. Some of the victims shown in the materials were around two years old. Additionally, some of the files reportedly portrayed 'sadistic or masochistic conduct or other depictions of violence.'
Cooper faces up to 20 years in prison, between five years and a lifetime of supervised release, up to a $250,000 fine and a $100 mandatory special assessment fee. Sentencing is scheduled for Oct. Posts
