Tom Felton To Play Draco Malfoy In ‘Cursed Child' On Broadway—How To Buy Tickets

While the role of Draco Malfoy has yet to be cast in HBO's upcoming Harry Potter TV series, original actor Tom Felton isn't giving up his wand just yet. After starring in all eight movies of the original blockbuster film series from 2001 to 2011, Felton is now making his Broadway debut in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. This casting marks the first time anyone from the original films has appeared in the stage production. Felton will play the adult version of Draco at the Lyric Theatre in New York City, beginning Nov. 11 for a 19-week run through March 22, 2026. 'Being a part of the Harry Potter films has been one of the greatest honors of my life," he said in a statement. "Joining this production will be a full-circle moment for me, because when I begin performances in Cursed Child this fall, I'll also be the exact age Draco is in the play.' The news was first announced on Today on Thursday, June 5, where the actor revealed that his casting is 'very much a pinch-me' situation. 'I keep thinking I'm dreaming. I let go of that character 16 years ago, and now getting a chance to step back into his shoes — as a father this time, in a new story — I get to meet Draco as an adult, which is very exciting.' Over on Instagram, Felton and the official Harry Potter and the Cursed Child accounts shared a first look at Felton in his black robes and sleek blonde hairstyle, resembling his on-screen father, Lucius Malfoy (Jason Isaacs). Felton admitted he "cried" when he tried on the character's platinum wig again after so long, considering how deeply the franchise shaped his childhood. "I've been very excited to share this news, and I had to keep it under wraps for quite a while," the 37-year-old added. Want to buy tickets to see Felton as Draco in the historic role? Rowling, John Tiffany, and Thorne. The plot takes place 19 years after the events of J.K. Rowling's novel Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Harry is now an adult, married to Ginny Weasley, and serves as the Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement at the Ministry of Magic. He has three children, including Albus, who is beginning his journey at Hogwarts. After being sorted into Slytherin, Albus struggles with the weight of his family legacy. The play debuted in London's West End in the summer of 2016. Chris Columbus, the director behind the first two Harry Potter films, told The Hollywood Reporter in 2021 that he would be open to directing an adaptation of the stage sequel featuring the original main cast – Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson – as their adult counterparts. "A version of Cursed Child with Dan, Rupert and Emma at the right age, it's cinematic bliss. If you're a film nerd or cinephile, it's kind of like what J.J. Abrams did with Star Wars... There's no question if you're a Star Wars fan, you were moved just seeing them on screen, seeing Harrison Ford as Han Solo again — and Chewy," he said. "I think that would be the same situation for Harry Potter fans. To able to actually see these adult actors now back in these roles? Oh, yeah. It would be amazingly fun to make that film — or two films," Columbus added.

Jason Isaacs talks about most 'nerve-racking' part for him on 'Harry Potter'

Picture Credit: X Actor Jason Isaacs, who played Lucius Malfoy , has revealed the most "nerve-racking" part of working on the Harry Potter movies . Isaacs participated in a Broadway talkback after the evening's performance of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child . Issacs was joined by three stage actors from the show: Aaron Bartz, who played Draco Malfoy, Erik Christopher Peterson, who essayed Scorpius and Matthew James Thomas, who played the titular role of Harry. Asked about the scariest part of joining the Harry Potter universe, the 61-year-old star said: "The most nerve-racking is that all of the actors in the films were my heroes. They're people I queued up in the rain to watch on stage, mostly." by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Google Brain Co-Founder Andrew Ng, Recommends: Read These 5 Books And Turn Your Life Around Blinkist: Andrew Ng's Reading List Undo The actor first joined the franchise for the 2002 installment, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. In the film, he plays Lucius Malfoy, the father of Potter's adversary Draco Malfoy played by Tom Felton. Isaacs reprised his role for five subsequent movies. His first foray into the magical universe was met with marvelous talent from his co-stars. "My very first day proper day was with the late great Richard Harris, who played Dumbledore in the first two films," Isaacs shared. But it wasn't the first time meeting the acting legend. "I went to drama school with his son, Jared Harris, and the days when Richard Harris came to watch us at drama school were days you wore four pairs of underpants." The actor was in awe while he was on set. "To be standing opposite (Harris) was incredible," he said. As the story progressed, and more films were shot, Isaacs got to work alongside more of the industry's best. "Cut to many years later ... when we shot the courtyard scene with everybody, the big battle at the end, I looked around and there were just Oscar winners everywhere," the Golden Globe nominee said. "The thrill never wore off." Oscar winners who have appeared in Harry Potter films include Emma Thompson, Gary Oldman, Jim Broadbent, Julie Christie, Kenneth Branagh and the late Maggie Smith. Isaacs added: "Every day when you go to work on a film set, you get a piece of paper, it's called a call sheet. It's got everybody's name on it and what scenes they're doing that day. And I still, by the end of it, couldn't believe that my name was on the list with all of those actors because they're still my acting heroes." Although the Harry Potter films are long done for Isaacs, he stays connected to his fictional son, Felton.

Jason Isaacs says he wants to 'milk' his Harry Potter role before he's 'long forgotten'

Jason Isaacs is clinging to his Harry Potter persona a bit longer, anticipating the forthcoming TV adaptation. The star of The White Lotus recently discussed his portrayal in the film series, which was adapted from the children's books by the contentious author J. K. Rowling , featuring a magical world of wizards. Jason took on the role of the nefarious Lucius Malfoy, father to Slytherin house's Draco Malfoy (Tom Felton), who was notorious for bullying and being the nemesis of Gryffindor's Harry Potter ( Daniel Radcliffe ) and his companions, Hermione Granger (Emma Watson) and Ron Weasley (Rupert Grint). In a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter's Awards Chatter podcast, which aired on April 21, Jason expressed pride in his performance as Lucius and his involvement in the eight-film saga. "It's not me trying, fishing for compliments or more applause. I'm just saying they are making the TV series, and it will be brilliant," Jason further explained. "And I will be, you know, like, just like I'm now last season's White Lotus actor, I will be the last iteration of Lucius Malfoy, and that's fine by me." He concluded with a simple acknowledgment: "I've had a good run,". Warner Bros. Discovery unveiled plans for a Harry Potter TV series during an HBO Max streaming event in April series, based on all seven books, is set to dedicate a season to each book. This New Revelation About How Much 'The White Lotus' Actors Are Paid Is So Smart, And People Think It Should Be 'The Standard'

As I'm sure you know, there are many stars in Season 3 of The White Lotus — from a K-pop icon to Lucius Malfoy himself. However, if you're an actor looking for a big paycheck, it sounds like The White Lotus is not the place for you. Ahead of the Season 3 finale on Sunday, the show's cast and crew sat down with the Hollywood Reporter to share some behind-the-scenes secrets — including the unconventional pay policy. 'Everyone is treated the same on The White Lotus. They get paid the same, and we do alphabetical billing, so you're getting people who want to do the project for the right reasons, not to quote The Bachelor,' explained producer David Bernad. 'It's a system we developed in the first season because there was no money to make the show.' For context, Season 1 of The White Lotus came out in 2021 and starred the likes of Jennifer Coolidge, Sydney Sweeney, and Lukas Gage. The first season was shot in Hawaii under COVID-19 restrictions and cost under $4 million per episode — significantly less than Season 3, where each episode reportedly cost around $6 million to $7 million. Multiple sources told the Hollywood Reporter that the pay for actors in Season 3 is around $40,000 per episode. Casting director Meredith Tucker said that ensuring everyone receives the same amount makes things 'much easier' — even if it deters some actors from being on the show. 'You tell people this is what it is,' she said. 'And some won't do it — and honestly, you can't hold it against people who need to make a living. Our series regulars are pretty much doing this for scale.' On X, fans have praised the approach to salaries, as well as the added revelation that all actors must audition, no matter how famous and experienced they may be. Plenty of users said factors like these are likely key to making ' a good ensemble show ' and avoiding unnecessary conflict between the actors. Others suggested it should be ' the standard ' on TV shows. 'sorry but this is really how most projects should be… especially in this era of people (who have never even acted) getting automatically cast in projects because they have a huge number of instagram followers… and the arbitrary pay disparities between talent in general,' read one post. Praising the show's creator, director, and writer, another user wrote: 'That's why nepotism never works for Mike White he said TALENT first.' Some users speculated that the non-negotiable pay policy might be why we ' don't see A-listers ' on the show. With that in mind, the Hollywood Reporter article included a story from two sources who claimed that Woody Harrelson — who initially signed on to play Rick, Walton Goggins' character — went 'all the way to Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav to see if his salary could be negotiated.' His request was denied, which apparently didn't stop him from signing on for the show; however, he eventually dropped out due to scheduling issues. What's more, the report suggests that Woody was also considered to play Frank, the friend of Rick's we meet in Episode 5, who Sam Rockwell ultimately played. I wonder if this means Woody's locked in for Season 4? I guess we'll have to wait and see.

White Lotus fans celebrate after unexpected star's brief full-frontal nude scene

Fans of The White Lotus have been left stunned after being treated to another full-frontal nudity scene in the black comedy show's latest season. The new season of the dark comedy is set in another luxury hotel - this time in Thailand - but after four episodes the show has already screened two male nude scenes. In the first episode, Patrick Schwarzenegger, who plays the eldest son of a wealthy family surprised even his brother-in-law, Chris Pratt, after appearing fully nude. Warning: The rest of this article does contain spoilers for The White Lotus season 3 episode 4 Now Schwarzenegger's father in the show, Jason Isaacs, has also had a full-frontal scene leaving viewers speechless. In the previous episode, Isaacs's character, Timothy Ratliff, agreed that he and his family should forego their phones for the remainder of their stay at the hotel as a way to avoid the constant calls he's receiving. Ratliff is facing a financial scandal and a criminal investigation and is dealing with the stress by taking his wife's (Parker Posey) anti-anxiety medication. In the new episode, a relaxed Ratliff accidentally exposes himself to the rest of his family after his bathroom robe comes loose, shocking everyone else in the room. After the scene aired for the first time on Sunday, viewers at home couldn't hide their disbelief at what they had just seen. 'I did NOT have Jason Isaacs full-frontal on my White Lotus S3 bingo card lmaooo,' wrote one person. Using a Harry Potter reference (Isaacs played Lucius Malfoy in the film franchise), one viewer joked: 'Well, I didn't expect White Lotus to show Lucius Malfoy's wand tonight, but here we are.' Another quipped: 'Well, I didn't expect White Lotus to show Lucius Malfoy's wand tonight, but here we are'. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Isaacs joked that full frontal scenes are now in his 'contract for every show I do'. 'It'll get easier, hopefully,' he added. Elsewhere, Isaacs opened up about the 'insane' response he got from the police when he reported that he was the victim of an ongoing stalking ordeal. Speaking in a new interview, Isaacs revealed that he 'went mad' during that period because the police assumed his stalker – a young woman – must have been romantically involved with him, even though he had never met her. 'I was terrified my house would be burned down or I'd be stabbed. And because it was a young woman the police didn't take it seriously for a long time.' he told the i. 'She might read this, which is disturbing.' He said the police had several 'insane' responses, such as changing his name and occupation. 'A different officer advised to 'just knock her out'. 'They were next to useless, the police,' he said. 'They kept insisting I must have had an affair with her. And I'd never met her.'
