The South American city named one of the world's best for nightlife in 2025

Nightlife has changed a lot over the last couple of years, but our cities know a thing or two about adapting – just check out Time Out's brand-new ranking of the best cities in the world for going out. Las Vegas was our crowning champion for 2025, and Madrid stole the crown as the first-place entry in Europe, but, we obviously couldn't overlook the esteemed, colourful nightlife culture of South America, and one city from the continent made its way into our roundup, too. The city in question? It was (drum roll, please!) Medellín, Colombia 's brilliant second city, which ranked in place number 18 on our worldwide list. While there are larger, more world-renowned cities in South America which you might have expected to rank (Rio and Buenos Aires, we're looking at you), Medellín's success at claiming a spot alongside nightlife heavyweights like Vegas, Berlin and Mexico City is down to its affordability. Our survey spoke to more than 18,500 locals worldwide, and residents of Medellín commended how inexpensive a place it is to go out, with 80 percent saying clubbing is budget-friendly and 72 percent saying the same about entertainment. So, where should you be heading after dark? Well, local expert Luis Gomez says: 'You'll find more world-famous bars and clubs on one street in Medellín than you would find in many cities. Carrera 35 in Medellín's Provenza area is home to legendary basement club Perro Negro – yes, the same Perro Negro from the eponymous Bad Bunny and Feid song – as well as new spots owned by fellow reggaeton stars Karol G (El Callejón del Gato) and Maluma (903).' And if you fancy something a little more low-key, Somos De Calle and El Faro C13 in Comuna 13 are two solid spots to check out.

Joe Rogan slams Trump's ICE raids

Published: | Updated: Podcaster Joe Rogan expressed his concerns about President Donald Trump 's escalation of ICE immigration raids in Los Angeles that extended out to the construction sites. 'Bro, these ICE raids are '[expletive] nuts,' Rogan said in his latest podcast episode published on Wednesday with comedians Luis J. Gomez and Big Jay Oakerson, citing the latests scenes of the violence taking place in Los Angeles on television When asked to clarify if the thought it was the raids were nuts or the protests, he replied, 'All of it is nuts.' Rogan said that if Trump had campaigned on raiding and arresting illegal immigrants at the Home Depot and construction sites, he would have not earned support during his presidential campaign. 'I don't think anybody would've signed up for that,' he said. Rogan recalled that Trump was going to focus on criminal illegal immigrants first. 'They said we're gonna get rid of the criminals and the gang members first. Right? And now we're, we're seeing like Home Depots get raided, like that's crazy,' he concluded. One of the guests agreed that it was '[expletive] up' when ICE agents were going to a college campus and arresting a kid who was about to graduate. Rogan lamented that people who came to the United States illegally from Mexico frequently found employment but ultimately was not able have a path to citizenship. He recalled visiting 'completely integrated societies' in Los Angeles that were 'fully Mexican,' but functional. 'Like going in and raiding those people and putting 'em in jail because they've integrated into society in an illegal way. It seems stupid,' he said. Rogan said that American corporations did not want to give illegal immigrants citizenship because they wanted to keep enjoying the benefits of cheap labor. 'If they're illegal, then you don't have to pay them as much. And this is where it's dark,' he said. 'This is the dark secret of why people want cheap labor in this country.' Trump announced Monday that he planned to further escalate immigration raids in major cities. 'Our Nation's ICE officers have shown incredible strength, determination, and courage as they facilitate a very important mission, the largest mass deportation operation of illegal aliens in history,' Trump wrote on social media. Trump's ICE raids in Los Angeles sparked protests from Democratic governors and mayors who argued that the president was needlessly escalating protests in violence. The president deployed the National Guard and United States Marines to help quell the riots, despite protests from Gov. Gavin Newsom and Mayor Karen Bass. But Trump vowed to keep fighting Democrats on the issue. 'These Radical Left Democrats are sick of mind, hate our Country, and actually want to destroy our Inner Cities — And they are doing a good job of it!' Trump wrote. 'There is something wrong with them.'

Court reinstates first-degree murder conviction in 2018 Springfield shooting

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The state's highest court has reinstated a first-degree murder conviction in a 2018 Springfield shooting. Luis Gomez was sentenced to life in prison for the deadly shooting of Jesus Flores at a nightclub on Waltham Avenue in Springfield. After he was convicted, the trial judge reduced the verdict to second-degree murder based on a lack of evidence of premeditation. Gomez appealed, but the Supreme Judicial Court of Massachusetts disagreed and reinstated Gomez's first-degree murder conviction, calling the judge's decision to reduce the verdict 'an abuse of discretion.' Gomez will be resentenced in Hampden Superior Court at a later date.
