Mourinho Pushes Amrabat to Juventus in Swap Deal

Fenerbahçe manager José Mourinho wants to include Sofyan Amrabat in a potential swap deal to bring Douglas Luiz to Istanbul from Juventus. The Portuguese coach sees Amrabat as a key bargaining chip to secure Luiz, who has fallen out with Juve management. The Brazilian midfielder was excluded from pre-season training after refusing to join the squad, triggering a $120,000 fine and casting doubt over his future in Turin. Juventus are keen to offload Luiz but will not accept less than $40 million, having signed him from Aston Villa only a year ago for $50 million. Mourinho, however, is intent on offering Amrabat in return. The Moroccan international completed a permanent move to Fenerbahçe this summer after a mixed loan spell at Manchester United and a four-year stint in Serie A. At 28, he remains on Juventus' radar as a more tactical fit for Igor Tudor's plans and a cost-effective alternative to top target Morten Hjulmand. Sources in Turkey suggest Fenerbahçe are open to selling Amrabat this summer. Italian outlet Tuttosport claims Juventus see the proposal as a potential 'two birds, one stone' solution – moving on Luiz while bringing in a more adaptable midfielder. 'Mourinho wants Douglas Luiz, but he's also prepared to offer Amrabat, who Juventus have tracked before,' reports La Gazzetta dello Sport . Amrabat's prior Serie A experience with Fiorentina and Hellas Verona makes him a credible option for Juve, especially with Tudor seeking a more physical and defensive midfield setup. Talks between Fenerbahçe sporting director Damien Comolli and Juventus are expected to advance in the coming days. A third player, Filip Kostić, may also be involved, with Fenerbahçe reportedly interested in retaining him after last season's loan. Tags: FenerbahceJose MourinhoJuventusMourinhoSofyan Amrabat

Former Premier League star faces disciplinary action after REFUSING to turn up to Juventus training amid 'interest from three English sides'

A former Premier League star is reportedly set to be punished after playing hooky from Juventus training. The Brazilian star failed to materialise at training on Thursday amid reported interest from three Premier League clubs. Douglas Luiz, who used to play for Aston Villa, will face disciplinary action from his Serie A employers, according to The Athletic. Luiz joined Juventus from Villa in a £42million deal last summer but failed to make himself a regular under Thiago Motta in an injury-hit year. He was Villa's player of the season in 2022-23, then backed that up with 10 goals and as many assists in 2023-24. However, he has failed to make a mark in either column in Turin. His time in Italy could be up imminently if reports of Premier League clubs' interest in the midfielder are accurate. Journalist Giovanni Albanese claims that West Ham, Everton, and Liverpool have all been interested in him over the course of the summer. Juventus are expected to seek around £35m for him. In January, Mail Sport reported that Manchester City were also considering him as an option. Luiz was on City's books between 2017 and 2019 but failed to make an appearance due to work permit complications. It has been a stormy year off the field for Luiz, who reportedly split from his footballer girlfriend Alisha Lehmann in May over different visions for their futures. They first began dating in 2021 before they broke up a year later and rekindled at the start of 2024. Since then, the couple had enjoyed a close relationship and both sealed a move to Italian giants Juventus during the summer window last year. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Lehmann and Luiz split some time ago and the pair are seen having different futures with Juventus, with the former expected to stay while the latter may leave. Luiz only played once during Juventus' Club World Cup campaign, which lasted four games, and that was as a second-half substitute in their first match against Emirati side Al Ain - when the Italians were already 4-0 up. Villa were reluctant to sell him in the first place but their hand was forced by their need to sell somebody for substantial profit to avoid breaching Premier League profitability and sustainability rules (PSR).

Douglas Luiz deliberately misses training; expected to leave Juventus

Douglas Luiz has deliberately missed the training of Juventus as he wants to leave the club this summer transfer window. By Ravi Kumar Jha Published on July 24, 2025, 19:13 IST Douglas Luiz has deliberately missed the training of Juventus as he wants to leave the club this summer transfer window. Luiz did not show up for training and the club confirmed it. The player is expected to face some disciplinary actions by the club for his this behaviour. Douglas Luiz has sparked controversy at Juventus after deliberately missing a scheduled training session, fueling rumours of an imminent summer exit. The Brazilian midfielder failed to report for training, and the club has officially confirmed his absence. Sources close to the situation suggest that Luiz is pushing for a move away from the Turin-based club, just weeks after joining from Aston Villa in a high-profile transfer. His decision to skip training is seen as a clear indication of his desire to force a departure. Juventus are reportedly unhappy with Luiz's conduct and are expected to take disciplinary action. While the club remains tight-lipped about the internal measures being considered, such behavior is unlikely to be tolerated under the new regime led by manager Thiago Motta. Edu working on transfer for Arsenal target he repeatedly failed to sign for Mikel Arteta

Edu is trying to sign Juventus midfielder Douglas Luiz for Nottingham Forest, having failed with moves for the Brazilian on a few occasions when he was at Arsenal Nottingham Forest are leading the race to sign Douglas Luiz from Juventus after he rejected moves to other Premier League sides. Juventus only signed Luiz from Aston Villa last summer but they are now desperate to offload the Brazilian midfielder. ‌ The Italian giants coughed up £42.35million to sign Luiz from Villa before handing him a five-year contract. Villa only parted company with the 27-year-old to comply with profit and sustainability rules after he enjoyed an outstanding 2023/24 season. ‌ Luiz is now trying to secure a move back to the Premier League after a miserable and injury-hit first campaign in Turin. He started just three Serie A matches for Juve last season, with 16 substitute appearances only getting him up to 518 minutes in the league. ‌ Juve are now trying to get rid of him and striker Dusan Vlahovic in order to make room for new arrivals, including Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho. And it seems that Forest global head of football Edu could hold the key to the potential deal. Edu surprisingly announced his decision to move on from Arsenal in November, having spent five years working at the Gunners alongside Mikel Arteta. He was responsible for the signings of players like Martin Odegaard and Declan Rice – but one player he didn't manage to land was Luiz. However, Gazzetta dello Sport now says that Edu is once again leading the push to sign Luiz, this time for Forest. Luiz has turned down Fulham and Leeds and now his agent, Kia Joorabchian, is flying to London to speak with interested parties. Tuttosport now reports that Everton are in the mix with Forest, while West Ham and Manchester United have previously explored a deal for him. With Luiz still having four years left on his deal with Juventus, a straight transfer appears unlikely. But the Old Lady are reportedly happy to accept an initial loan with the obligation to buy. Last week, West Ham were reported to have offered a €10m (£8.67m) loan deal with an option to buy for around €30m (£26m). That was turned down because Juve want an obligation to buy, rather than an option. ‌ Luiz is not in Igor Tudor's plans for the 2025/26 season after missing 20 matches last season through injury while underwhelming when he did play. Edu doesn't seem concerned as he continues chasing the midfielder. Edu and Arteta were convinced that Luiz could become a key player in north London if they could poach him from Villa. They tried on more than one occasion to prise him away from Unai Emery, but were unsuccessful as he spent five seasons with the Birmingham club. It seems he has a better chance this time around, with Forest – unlike Everton or United – able to offer him European football next season.
