Constraints on Watercare infrastructure could push up prices
Constraints on Auckland's water infrastructure could push up prices in the city's central suburbs. That is the warning from one economist as demand is increasing for land that is not affected by limitations to Auckland's water network. Last year, Watercare released a map revealing many areas of Auckland with water or wastewater restrictions, meaning new builds in those areas may not be able to connect to the water network until necessary upgrades are complete. Newmarket businesses say area feels like a 'ghost-town'

Newmarket businesses say high rent, a tight economy and changing shopping habits have all contributed to a difficult environment. Domestic violence calls to police going answered
A family violence support agency said police are undoing decades of hard work by not attending some domestic violence callouts that are considered mental-health related. Last year, police announced a phased approach to pulling back on mental-health related callouts, while still attending high risk incidents, in a bid to save their time and resources.
