At the global premiere of 'Wednesday' Season Two, Part One in London, Catherine Zeta-Jones turned her inner Morticia Addams outward with a haunting makeup aesthetic brought to life by her longtime artist, Brett Freedman. The 55-year-old actress cosplayed as her character in the Tim Burton-created Netflix series using dark, rusty tones from her eyebrow bones down to her lips. Akin to the pasty visage of the original Charles Addams characters, Zeta-Jones' base was, for the most part, void of bronzer. In fact, Freedman pared down many products on her visage, starting with skin care. 'Zeta-Jones doesn't have sensitive skin, but I like to keep her skin prep simple but uber hydrating,' Freedman told WWD over a phone call from London. Bringing in some rusty orange tones to steer clear of a ghost-like countenance, Freedman placed Giorgio Armani's Luminous Silk Cheek Tint in shade 42 on her cheeks, a secret ingredient in his recipe for glass skin veneer. That same icy finish was mirrored on the rest of the her body using the Whoopie Cream Shea Butter followed by the Golden Gleam Serum by Farmhouse Fresh. 'Zeta-Jones was showing so much skin I wanted to amp up the light catching shine, but not get too slick or bronzed. Golden Gleam is skin care, but it's also an amazing luminizer for the face and body,' Freedman said. Opting to use draconian eye shadow was a no-brainer for Freedman and Zeta-Jones. 'It's definitely a rounder smoke,' he said of the shadow placement, but a smoky eye no less. The bold hues were courtesy of Makeup by Mario's Master Mattes Palette, and the eyeliner was Victoria Beckham's Satin Kajal Liner in bronze. 'I wanted to glisten up her lash line,' Freedman explained of the liner choice. 'This pencil has the creamiest slide; it's like a precision cream shadow.' Her lashes, comprised of Ardell's Naked Lash number 421 and Lash Clusters, intentionally mimicked long, spiky spider legs, complementing the diamond cages over her ears. For the lip, Freedman and Zeta-Jones settled on a deep plum shade, one as equally hypnotic as the colors on her eyes. 'For Catherine, this is definitely out of the box for her, but also feels right in a strange way,' Freedman said. The theatricality of her Gothic aesthetic is something Zeta-Jones and Freedman felt they had more freedom to explore for this press tour as compared to the press for Season One in 2022. 'I will say for the first season, they were like, 'Oh, you know, nothing too Goth.' She (Zeta-Jones) didn't want to look like Morticia. She had lightened up her hair a touch, and was doing tons of waves. We were making her a little bronzy, just doing anything to lighten it up and have a little separation,' Freedman noted. The slicked-back bun on top of her head, designed by stylist Maranda Widlund, was really a way for Zeta-Jones to 'give the eye a rest,' as Freedman put it. Her black halter-neck Stéphane Rolland gown, embellished with loose sheer fabrics circling her body midair, was styled by Kelly Johnson. Catherine Zeta-Jones' make-up artist has revealed the secrets to her gothic glamour look. The actress turned heads at the premiere of Wednesday season two in London this week (30.08.25) and now Brett Freedman has revealed exactly how he created her striking make-up. Brett told WWD he started with a case of Farmhouse Fresh's Cactus Comfort Moisturizer followed by Aleph foundation and Mac Blot Powder and then used Giorgio Armani's Luminous Silk Cheek Tint in shade 42 on Catherine's cheeks. To create Catherine's smokey eyes, Brett turned to Makeup by Mario's Master Mattes Palette and Victoria Beckham's Satin Kajal Liner in bronze which was finished with Ardell's Naked Lash number 421 and Lash Clusters false lashes. He told the publication: "I wanted to glisten up her lash line. This [eyeliner] pencil has the creamiest slide; it's like a precision cream shadow." The look was finished with a plumb lipstick, with Brett adding: "For Catherine, this is definitely out of the box for her, but also feels right in a strange way." Brett also made sure Catherine's body also had a fresh glow so he used Farmhouse Fresh's Whoopie Cream Shea Butter and the brand's Golden Gleam Serum. Catherine plays Morticia Addams in hit Netflix show Morticia Addams and Brett revealed the actress previously worried about looking too much like her character when promoting the show, but had decided to lean into the look a bit more this time around. The premiere took place at Central Hall in London's Westminster with the stars walking a purple carpet instead of the traditional red. Catherine wore a couture gown by Stéphane Rolland and took along her 10-year-old niece Ava Zeta as her date.
