Saplings planted at Government Arts College in Thanjavur
Seventy nine saplings, marking the 79th Independence Day, were planted at the Government Arts College, Kumbakonam.
According to a college release, the event was organised by the college Eco Club and saplings of java plum, madhuca logifolia (illuppai), guava, neem, Spanish Cherry, and other varieties were planted on the campus. College principal M. Govindarasu was present. The responsibility of watering and maintaining the saplings was entrusted to the members of the Eco Club and the NSS volunteers, the release added.
