JOHOR BARU: A man in his 30s has been remanded for seven days to assist police investigations into the death of his son, whose body was discovered in Rompin, Negri Sembilan, after he lodged a report claiming the child had gone missing in Bukit Indah on July 24. Iskandar Puteri police chief Assistant Commissioner M. Kumarasan said the man, who is the victim's biological father, had initially alleged that his son disappeared on July 23 around 4pm after he left the child alone in a car while going out to buy food. "However, subsequent investigations led to the discovery of the victim's body in Rompin, Negri Sembilan," he said in a statement issued late yesterday. He said the suspect was arrested at 12.20 pm on the same day he filed the false report, and preliminary checks confirmed that the man tested negative for drugs and had no criminal record. The suspect is being remanded for seven days starting July 25 to assist in the investigation under Section 182 of the Penal Code for making a false report. Meanwhile, Negri Sembilan police chief Datuk Ahmad Dzaffir Mohd Yussof was reported as saying that the police were informed about the discovery of the body of a child, who was suspected of being murdered and buried at the location at 4.30pm yesterday. ISKANDAR PUTERI: A six-year-old boy has been reported missing in the Taman Bukit Indah area here early this morning. Iskandar Puteri district police chief Assistant Commissioner M. Kumarasan said they received a report on the incident at around 2.15am from the boy's father, aged 36. "The complainant informed us that his son had gone missing in the Taman Bukit Indah area early this morning. "The missing child has been identified as Tishant Munisammy, an Indian Malaysian, aged six. "He is approximately 110 centimetres tall, weighs 19kg, has medium-dark skin and a sharp nose. "The last reported location of the victim was at Kopitiam Tiong Nam, Bukit Indah," he said in a statement today. Those with information on the child's whereabouts can contact the nearest police station. "Those with information can also contact the investigating officer Inspector Komaty Ellappan,at 010-381 2804, or call the Iskandar Puteri District Control Centre at 07-511 3622 or the hotline at 07-511 4486," he said.

JOHOR BARU: A trailer carrying chemicals plunged into the sea after it was rear-ended while parked on the Second Link bridge due to a tyre puncture. Iskandar Puteri police chief, Assistant Commissioner M. Kumarasan, said both drivers involved in the crash at Km0.8 of the Plus highway's Second Link northbound stretch sustained minor injuries. "Preliminary investigations revealed that a trailer carrying an ISO tank had stopped on the left lane of the bridge due to a punctured tyre. "Another trailer travelling behind it collided into the rear right side of the stationary vehicle, causing it to swerve and the ISO tank it was transporting to fall into the sea. "Both drivers suffered minor injuries," he said in a statement today. The case is being investigated under Section 43 of the Road Transport Act 1987. Kumarasan urged anyone with information on the incident to contact the Iskandar Puteri Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division (BSPTD) at 07-5101322. Earlier today, it was reported that a chemical container had fallen into the sea following a crash involving two trailers on the bridge. One trailer was transporting propylene glycol, while the other carried sodium hypochlorite. The ISO tank containing propylene glycol plunged into the sea. However, authorities confirmed that there was no leakage from the tank, and no surface foam, oil slicks or bubbles were observed. The Johor Fire and Rescue Department's hazardous materials (Hazmat) unit was deployed to the scene as a precautionary measure to monitor for any signs of contamination.

ISKANDAR PUTERI: Police arrested a 27-year-old man yesterday in connection with a series of motorcycle parts thefts at a bus terminal in Gelang Patah. Iskandar Puteri police chief, Assistant Commissioner M. Kumarasan, said several items believed to be stolen were recovered from the suspect, who had no past criminal records and tested negative for drugs. Police also seized two sets of motorcycle rims and two spanner bars during the arrest at 11.45pm. The suspect has been remanded to assist investigations under Section 379A(1) of the Penal Code, which pertains to the theft of a motor vehicle or its components. If convicted, the offender faces up to seven years' imprisonment and a fine. Earlier, a viral post on social media platform X showed a man zooming in on two motorcycles with their rear tyres stolen. The poster had urged the bike owners to get in touch with him. It is yet to be established what his connection was to the theft. Meanwhile, in an unrelated case, Kumarasan said a 17-year-old girl was reported missing from Taman Nusantara, Gelang Patah, on July 14. The missing teen, identified as Sue Farieda Rajamani, was last seen at Decabin Restaurant in Gelang Patah. She is described as having a tanned complexion, slim build, about 158cm tall, with long black hair and a sharp nose. He urged anyone with information on her whereabouts to contact investigation officer Sergeant Yunos Ali at 012-6447432, or the Iskandar Puteri police control centre at 07-5113622.

Iskandar Puteri OCPD Asst Comm M. Kumarasan said during the 8.37pm incident, the suspect's car had apparently rear-ended the victim's vehicle before an argument ensued between the two parties. "The suspect then kicked the car of the complainant, who is a 24-year-old local man and flashed the middle finger at him. "After the victim had lodged a police report, the 20-year-old suspect was soon arrested on the same day by the roadside in the Gelang Patah area," he said in a statement on Tuesday (July 8). He said during early screening, the road rage suspect tested positive for drugs but has no criminal record. "The suspect has been remanded for four days from Monday until July 10 for further investigation under Section 427 of the Penal Code (for mischief and causing damage), Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955 (abusive behaviour) and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 (drug consumption). "If convicted, the suspect can be sentenced to imprisonment, a fine, or both, depending on the provisions of the law involved," he also said.
