Inclement weather could not dampen spirits of yoga practitioners in Andhra Pradesh's Srikakulam district

Inclement weather could not dampen the spirits of yoga practitioners in Srikakulam as they performed yogasanas near Kalingapatnam beach of Srikakulam district on Tuesday (June 10, 2025) as part of Yogandhra-2025 programme launched by the State Government. As many as 850 persons took part in the programme which was coordinated by the District Revenue Officer M. Venkateswara Rao. Initially, the yoga programme was planned in the coast but it was shifted to nearby buildings owing to rains and bad weather. In spite of hardships, the practitioners reached Kalingapatnam from Srikakulam, Gara and other places in the early hours. While appreciating their spirit, Rao said that constant practice of yoga would ensure health, fitness, happiness and peace of mind for everyone. He said Srikakulam Collector Swapnil Dinakar had taken up Yogandhra programme as a challenge and planned to promote all tourism sports such as Dutch building, Salihundam, Kalingapatnam and other places by selecting those locations for mega yoga programmes. He said that around 80,000 people from Srikakulam would participate in massive yoga programme to be organised in Bhimili on June 21, the International Yoga Day. Srikakulam District Ayush Officer P. Jagadish, district Panchayat Officer K. Bharati Sowjanya and others took part in the programme.

Rotary Club of Visakhapatnam in collaboration with the Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ) organised Samajikam 2025 with the theme of 'Empowering Communities Through CSR,' here on Saturday. AMTZ founder CEO and MD Jitendra Sharma inaugurated the event. He said, 'Both AMTZ and Rotary are built on the foundation of service— one through healthcare innovation, and the other through humanitarian action. This partnership is a strategic convergence. Our assistive technology centre, community health initiatives and Made in India hospitals are the instruments of empowerment. Together with Rotary's 120-year legacy and AMTZ's vibrant innovations, we can scale social impact and transform lives across the world.' Rotary's district governor, M. Venkateswara Rao, said, 'With 1.4 million rotarians globally and deep-rooted grassroots presence, Rotary is uniquely positioned to amplify the impact of CSR. Our collaboration with AMTZ—a beacon of indigenous innovation—is a leap toward holistic, tech-enabled social change.' Rotary Club Visakhapatnam also launched 'Amruth,' a flagship CSR initiative to protect adolescent girls from HPV and prevent cervical cancer. Led by Muralikrishna of Mahatma Gandhi Cancer Hospital, the programme has already vaccinated over 1,000 girls.
