Air ambulance in attendance following 'serious motorcycle collision' on M6
An air ambulance was on scene following a serious collision on the M6 this evening. Traffic was temporarily stopped on the M6 in both directions between J29 Leyland and J28 due to a serious collision at around 7pm. National Highways confirmed that an air ambulance attended the scene, with delays of around 20 minutes. A spokesperson for National Highways said: "National Highways can confirm that a collision occurred involving a motorcyclist on the M6 between Junction 29 (Leyland) and Junction 28 (M65). "The incident happened at around 7pm. All lanes of the motorway were temporarily closed but have since been opened and delays have now cleared. The M6 Junction 28 slip road (south) remains closed for the recovery of the vehicle." READ MORE: The extent of injuries obtained or the circumstances surrounding the collision currently remain unclear. The carriageways were opened minutes later, with the exit slip road at J28 remains closed to aid vehicle recovery. NWAS has been contacted for comment.

M6 and M65 SHUT due to crashes with huge oil spill sparking rush-hour delays for 1,000s as emergency crews scrambled
THE M6 and M65 have been shut due to crashes with a a huge oil spill sparking severe delays. Part of the M6 northbound near junction 32 for the M55 in Preston has been closed following the collision. The crash took place overnight causing a fuel spillage and major disruption on both motorways. Thousands of drivers are expected to face long queues as a clean-up operation takes place. Lancashire Police said: "We need to inform you that the M6 northbound is currently closed due to a traffic collision. "We are hoping to get lanes one and two open again soon, but for now please plan alternative routes and avoid the area." A National Highways spokesperson said: "The M65 in Lancashire is closed westbound between J3 (Riley Green) and J2 (M61 Junction, near Brindle) due to a road traffic collision which was reported to National Highways this morning. "Once units got to scene, it was reported that a large fuel spillage had crossed the carriageway following the collision which required an extensive clear up. "Clear up works have since been complete, and service providers remain on scene to assess the carriageway before re-opening." 1
