Gabrielle Union And Dwyane Wade Pen Heartwarming Birthday Tribute To Zaya For Her 18th Birthday

Source: Presley Ann / Getty Gabrielle Union and her husband Dwyane Wade took to Instagram on June 2 with a heartwarming tribute in honor of their daughter Zaya Wade's birthday. The beautiful model and LGBTQ advocate turned 18 on May 29. The loving parents kicked off their sweet message by praising Zaya for her incredible 'transparency' and strength. 'They say parents are the ones to raise and show their children 'the way', but you've been the one to show us what true strength, vulnerability, and love really look like,' Union, 52, and Wade, 43, penned. 'At just 18, you've already shown the world what it means to be brave.' The duo added, 'Your courage lights the way for so many to follow, and we're right beside you every step of the way.' Union and Wade recently shared a joint-post highlighting moments from Zaya's 18th birthday celebration, which took place over the weekend in collaboration with H&M and MAC Cosmetics. The photos featured Zaya looking radiant in a stunning white gown adorned with shimmery tassels and a flowing train that added an extra touch of elegance. She carried the shimmering theme into her makeup, wearing eye-catching pearl accents woven into her eyeshadow. To complete the look, she paired the ensemble with beige heels and a matching bag. Additional snapshots captured her mingling with guests and clearly enjoying every moment of the festive occasion. Recapping the special night on her own Instagram page, Zaya told fans that the entire night was 'special.' She added, 'Thank you to my friends and family who celebrated with me. It's going to be an amazing year.' Time surely does fly by! In a March interview with Seventeen , Zaya shared that she's currently exploring college options as she prepares to transition from high school to university life. As a transgender teen, she expressed her desire to attend a school where she can fully embrace her identity and feel supported. However, she also voiced concern about the growing number of anti-trans bills being passed across the country, admitting that her safety is a significant factor in her decision-making process. 'It would be a little too idealistic to say I'm going to be safe anywhere I go. Even if I'm in a blue state or blue city or blue county, it's not to say that it will be free of Black and queer discrimination. But I'm obviously factoring in the safer choices,' said Zaya, who came out as transgender in 2020. 'I really want to put myself in spaces where I know I can find my community and my community can find me, and we can work together to keep the queer community across the country strong.' Like any teen, love and romance appear to be on the mind of the Gen-Z beauty, too. The Miu Miu model revealed that she was on the market and currently dating, although 'dating' is a term that is a bit 'aggressive' for Zaya. She'd much rather have a casual 'situationship' at this stage of her life. 'In Gen Z, situationships are king. In no way are we opposed to a relationship, but sometimes there's comfort in not being so locked in. At the end of [the] day, I have to focus on me,' she confessed. Congrats to Zaya Wade. Kiko Milano Names Drew Elliott Chief Brand Officer

Drew Elliot, the former global creative director of MAC Cosmetics, will assume the role of chief brand officer at Kiko Milano from Sept. 1, the company announced on Wednesday. Elliot's move to the Italian cosmetics company comes as the brand is looking to deepen its presence in the US market. While well-known in Europe, where its bright, buzzy stores are ubiquitous throughout the continent, it has a smaller footprint in the US. In April 2024, the private equity firm L Catterton took a controlling stake in the company, with a mandate to help it grow its global presence. In 2024, net sales reached over $1 billion; the company operates more than 1,250 stores across the globe. Kiko Milano is well-known for its affordable cosmetics, such as the 3D Hydra Lip Gloss, and its collaborations with celebrities including the actress Emma Roberts and the model Sara Sampaio. The brand began a premiumisation strategy in 2022, and is now present in department storeslike El Corte Inglés in Spain and Galeries Lafayette in France, and has introduced some higher-priced products. Before joining MAC Cosmetics, Elliot worked in a variety of creative leadership roles at the likes of Paper Magazine's parent company ENTTech Media Group. In a statement, Simone Dominici, chief executive of Kiko Milano said that Elliot's appointment would 'unlock the full creative potential' of the brand and that Elliot was selected in part for his brand-building abilities. Elliot said in a statement the brand's authentic Italian heritage and quality products give it a strong foundation for global success. 'This is more than a beauty brand; it's a platform for self-expression and cultural connection,' he said. Why Red Lipstick Will Always Be My Power Colour

A bright, blue-toned red lipstick has been my signature for the last fourteen years. I found my first in a serendipitous encounter at a M.A.C Cosmetics store. I walked in with no specific agenda, a sales assistant pulled out a few colours for me, including one called 'M.A.C Red' (nope, not Ruby Woo), I saw what it looked like against my fair skin and was instantly intimidated, wondering if it was too promiscuous a shade for a sixteen-year-old. A woman shopping alongside saw it on me and instantly said, 'If I was you, I would buy that. It looks amazing.' I did, and I've never looked back. While teenagers today experiment with beauty and truly own their choices, that wasn't necessarily the case in 2012. It took a few wears for me to get over the self-judgment and really embrace the fact that beneath the doubt, it made me feel fantastic and like a more confident version of myself. Little did I know that three years later, I would dive into a career in the beauty editorial space, and that my red lipstick would become a defining part of my personality, at and outside of work, eventually leading to the launch of my Instagram community called The Red Lipstick Club. Red lipstick: Cultural significance Red lipstick has been a symbol of oppression, wealth, power, seduction and even witchcraft over time. Historians believe that the Egyptians were some of the first creators and users of red lipstick, one made from crushing insects, for Cleopatra. During World War II, women were specifically told to avoid wearing red lipstick, and they went on to swipe it as an act of rebellion. In 1912, during the suffragettes movement in America, protestors wore red and Elizabeth Arden handed out free tubes of red lipstick to women marching along Fifth Avenue in New York City. Marilyn Monroe always had her signature red lip on, Grace Kelly loved her Rouge Dior 999 since the mid 1950s, Madonna wore M.A.C's Russian Red all through her iconic 'Blond Ambition' tour in 1990, and Taylor Swift often has a red pout on (Nars' Dragon Girl is said to be her go-to). Safe to say, red has always been, and continues to be, in vogue. How to find the perfect red lipstick Finding a red that feels true to you definitely takes some experimenting. We got Bianca Louzado, a Mumbai-based celebrity and bridal makeup artist to share her take on doing it right. 'I think the perfect red lipstick announces your identity, attitude and emotions, all in one swipe. The secret to knowing and wearing the right kind of red lies in understanding your skin's undertone. If you have a cool undertone such as pink, red, or bluish hints, invest in blue-based reds like cherry hues or a classic ruby palette. Warm undertones are skin with golden, yellow, olive, or peach hints, making orange-based reds like tomato or brick tones your perfect pick. If you have a neutral undertone where warm and cool are balanced, most reds will suit you.' If you're someone who enjoys creating custom shades, she recommends having a tiny collection of assorted reds, to mix and match shades and thereby achieve your perfect red. There truly is a red for everyone, no matter your skin tone. All it takes is some trial and error, and a small dose of confidence to wear it outdoors. You'll feel the difference and wonder why you never wore the power colour in the first place — I know I did, and will continue to swipe it on till kingdom come. Dwyane Wade's daughter Zaya Wade's modest birthday became a bold stand for something bigger

On the surface, it looked like a glamorous 18th birthday bash, bright lights, bold fashion, and a buzzing Hollywood venue. But behind the sparkle, Zaya Wade's big night held a powerful secret. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now With just a $20 entry ticket, guests weren't only stepping into a party, they were stepping into a movement. Just days before Pride Month, Zaya, alongside her father Dwyane Wade, revealed something far bigger than a celebration. This wasn't just a birthday. It was a mission disguised in glitter and grace. Zaya Wade and Dwyane Wade turn a birthday into a moment of support The event was called The Venus Ascension Ball. It happened just two days before Pride Month started. The location was NeueHouse in Hollywood, California. Zaya planned the night with a clear goal. Tickets cost $20, and every dollar went to Translatable, a platform she created in 2023 with her dad, Dwyane Wade. Translatable is a digital space that supports LGBTQ+ youth. It offers tools, education, and personal stories. It helps young people feel seen and gives families guidance to support them. Many people came to the ball. Dwyane Wade was there. So was his wife, actress , and their daughter, Kaavia Wade. The family showed love and support the whole night. Big brands also helped out. MAC Cosmetics gave $100,000 to the Trans Wellness Center in Zaya's honor. Other sponsors included H&M, the Utah Jazz, and Folx Health. The Trans Wellness Center, run by Marian Marroquin, was the nonprofit partner. It helps trans people in Los Angeles with health care, housing, and education. The party wasn't just about raising money. It was a true ball. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Guests dressed up. There were runway contests with $15,000 in cash prizes. Zaya wore a strapless beaded gown, then changed into a short lace dress. Her cake showed The Birth of Venus, a painting about beauty and new life. Zaya later said, 'It was indescribable. Imagine an explosion of love and light wrapped up into one magical night.' Zaya and Dwyane Wade speak from the heart about their bond Zaya's family has supported her from the start. She came out as transgender in 2020, at just 12 years old. At the time, the Wades were living in Florida. But due to new laws against LGBTQ+ rights, they moved to California. Dwyane Wade said, 'The community wasn't here for Zaya, so the community wasn't here for us.' In May 2024, Dwyane Wade shared a podcast where Zaya joined him as a guest. They talked about their close bond. Dwyane said people don't see how much they work together. He also shared that they received the Elevate Prize Catalyst Award. This award supports their mission to help LGBTQ+ youth. Dwyane explained that Translatable gives these young people a safe online place to connect. It also helps families learn how to support them. Zaya's birthday looked like a party. But it was really about hope, love, and a strong mission. Also Read:
