2 county employees caught on camera stealing over $50,000 worth of artwork at PortMiami, sheriff's office says
Two PortMiami employees were arrested this week after they were caught on camera stealing over $50,000 of art, the sheriff's office said. On Thursday morning, the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office said it had arrested and charged 27-year-old Angel Prudhomme and 50-year-old Tangela Park with second-degree grand theft. Arrest documents revealed that Park is also facing a criminal mischief charge. According to MDSO, both Prudhomme and Park were county employees assigned to PortMiami as custodial workers. "As Sheriff of Miami-Dade County, I take individuals using their employment to steal very seriously," said Miami-Dade County Sheriff Rose Cordero-Stutz. "I am committed to ensuring that anyone involved in dishonest actions will be held accountable." A tip received by public corruption investigators led to the arrests Last Friday, Public Corruption Section investigators with MDSO's Internal Affairs Office were notified by port authorities of a possible art theft inside one of the terminals. Detectives then met with port authorities and reviewed surveillance video, which showed two PortMiami workers removing artwork from the terminal, loading it into their vehicles and leaving the port with it. During the investigation, Prudhomme was identified as one of the employees caught on camera, where he was seen removing artwork from the walls inside Terminal G on May 12 and concealing it in a stairwell. According to arrest documents, he was also seen concealing mosaic and marble pieces of art inside trash cans and bags while trying to avoid security cameras. The following day, Prudhomme was seen taking the art and putting it into Park's vehicle. Public Corruption Section detectives then took over the investigation and with the assistance of the Miami-Dade State Attorney's Office, they obtained warrants for Prudhomme and Park's arrests. According to arrest documents, 12 of the 24 pieces were damaged by the "improper removal and transportation" of the artwork and were left at the terminal. These items were later recovered by the Sea Port General Investigations unit. After receiving consent to a search, the other 12 pieces were found on Wednesday at Prudhomme's home and vehicle, where they were also found to be damaged. According to MDSO, the art collection manager said the artwork was last appraised at around $50,000. After being told their Miranda rights, Prudhomme and Park admitted to removing the artwork before being taken to Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center for booking.

Child, 3, Was Wandering in Parking Lot with Blood on Her Face. Then Her Mom Was Found Slain
Authorities have arrested a Florida man in connection with the death of a woman after her young child was seen roaming in public with blood on her face and clothes. Maria Camila Garcia-Molina, 24, was found fatally stabbed inside her car in Miami, Fla., on Saturday, April 24, the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office said in a press release. Investigators arrested 29-year-old Joy Chandra Nath in connection with the case. He was identified by the Miami Herald, WSVN and CBS as her ex-boyfriend. Police responded to Garcia-Molina's residence after the woman's 3-year-old daughter was seen wandering around the parking lot of her family's residential complex, with what appeared to be dried blood on her face and clothes, the sheriff's office said. A neighbor saw the child and took her to the girl's grandmother, who then flagged down a sheriff's deputy. Responding officers tried to locate the child's mother, Garcia-Molina, in her home but could not find her, per MDSO. They then found the woman in her vehicle during a search of the area. She had several stab wounds on her and was pronounced deceased at the scene, MDSO said. The investigation revealed Nath had allegedly stalked Garcia-Molina in the weeks leading up to her killing, per unspecified court documents cited by the Miami Herald. Following the couple's break-up in November, Nath allegedly showed up to the woman's workplace and told her he had left something for her in her car; she later found an Apple Air Tag attached to her car, per the document, the Herald reports. He had a temporary restraining order against him, but it was dropped after Garcia-Molina was absent for a hearing, the Herald reported, citing court records. On the day before the killing, Nath allegedly showed up at a mall where Garcia-Molina was meeting her current boyfriend, and he got into an altercation with the boyfriend, per the documents. Nath allegedly told police he had breakfast with the victim and her child on the morning of the killing. When authorities saw him in her neighborhood after the killing, he allegedly told them he was there to return her belongings, per the court documents. In a GoFundMe set up to assist Garcia-Molina's family, she is being remembered as a hardworking mother who had a bright future ahead of her. "Camila was the most beautiful and loving girl that you can ever imagine," her mother wrote in the fundraiser. The mother said Garcia-Molina "had dreams, plans, and a beautiful future ahead that was taken away from her too soon."Nath has been charged with second-degree murder and child abuse, according to Miami-Dade online court records reviewed by PEOPLE. His plea and attorney information were not available in the online records. Man charged with murder after allegedly stabbing, killing ex-girlfriend in Miami, officials say
A 29-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the fatal stabbing of his ex-girlfriend, the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office Homicide Bureau announced Sunday. MDSO said Joy Chandra Nath has been charged with murder in the death of 24-year-old Maria Camila Garcia-Molina. According to investigators, just before 3:55 p.m., a deputy was flagged down by a woman who said her 3-year-old granddaughter was found wandering in the parking lot of her residential complex at SW 144 Street and SW 134 Avenue in Miami. A neighbor recognized the child and escorted her to her grandmother's residence. The child had what appeared to be dried blood on her face and her clothing, according to the report. MDSO's Vulnerable Victims Unit responded to the location and launched a child neglect investigation. Additional deputies responded to the child's residence in attempt to locate the mother, identified as Garcia-Molina. Deputies conduct an area search During a search, deputies located the Garcia-Molina's vehicle parked at the Twin Lakes complex where she lived. According to the arrest report, blood was visible on the front passenger seat and a body was found covered in blankets on the rear floorboard. Maria Camila Garcia-Molina, 24, was killed Saturday night in Miami. Police have arrested her ex-boyfriend Joy Chandra Nath, 29, who family members of the victim say stalked her. Courtesy of Go Fund Me First responders said they forced their way into the car. At 6:25 p.m., Miami-Dade Fire Rescue pronounced Garcia-Milina dead at the scene. She had sustained multiple sharp force injuries to her neck, torso and arms, according to police. Investigators learned the victim had last been seen leaving her home around 12:30 p.m. with her daughter. A little over two hours later, police said her daughter was found wandering alone — something family members said was highly unusual. The toddler, who was not physically injured, told detectives her mother had been with a man named Joy and that her mother was "hit in the head and was now sleeping." History of stalking victim Family members told detectives that Garcia-Molina had an ex-boyfriend, identified as Nath, who had a history of stalking her. According to the report, Garcia-Molina had previously obtained a temporary restraining order against Nath. Family members also told police that Nath had confronted Garcia-Molina and her new boyfriend Friday night at Dolphin Mall. Around 12:10 a.m. Sunday, while investigators were still processing the crime scene, Nath returned to the Twin Lakes complex in his black Lexus ES350 with the headlights off, according to the arrest report. According to police, deputies stopped him and noticed scratches and bruising on his face, neck and arms. Nath told deputies he had Garcia-Molina's belongings and planned to return them to her. After being taken into custody, Nath waived his right to an attorney and gave a recorded statement, admitting he had spent time with the victim and her daughter earlier that day. He said they had met for breakfast at Casavana Cuban Cuisine and later parted ways. Nath claimed he returned home to wash his clothes before being contacted by the victim's brother. A search of Nath's vehicle revealed the victim's purse, cellphone and several forms of ID inside. Cell phone data showed the victim's phone traveled from her residence to Nath's residence, then back to the area where her body was found. Nath was arrested and charged with second-degree murder and child abuse. The investigation remains ongoing.
