Sarah Ferguson Makes Surprise Wimbledon Appearance Next to Less-Than-Surprising Royal Family Member
Duchess Sarah Ferguson made a surprise appearance at Wimbledon for just the second time since last attending with Princess Diana in the 1990s. The Duchess of York, aka Fergie, was spotted attending the first day of the Wimbledon Tennis Championships on Monday, which took place at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London. Fergie and her daughter Princess Beatrice arrived in style, sitting in the Royal Box as they watched defending men's singles champion Carlos Alcaraz take on Fabio Fognini. Karwai Tang/WireImage/Getty Images For the event, Duchess Fergie opted to wear the silk ultra-feminine maxi dress in an on-trend green floral color from the royally approved ME+EM, which is a go-to brand for many in the family. As for her daughter, Princess Beatrice, she kept things cute and casual in a blue and white striped ensemble, which she paired with round sunglasses from Club Royale. Karwai Tang/WireImage/Getty Images After Princess Diana's passing in 1997, Duchess Fergie only made one appearance at Wimbledon in the year 2000…until now, that is, making her attendance a poignant one. In July 2024, she honored Princess Di on what would have been her 63rd birthday with an emotional tribute on Instagram, which also included a throwback photo of the two besties dressed to the nines as they watched the Battle of Britain Anniversary Parade from the balcony of Buckingham Palace in the 1980s. The post was captioned, "Happy birthday to my dear friend, Diana. You were a pillar of light and love. And what a legacy you have left behind. I will forever remember our laughter and the kindred, kind spirit I found in you. I'm sure you're watching over us always. Rest in peace, my friend." It certainly seems like Duchess Fergie and Princess Beatrice had a great time, which makes us happy to see. Want all the latest royal news sent right to your inbox? Click here.
