Indian-origin law graduate Krishangi Meshram, who earned a First-Class Honours Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the UK's Open University (OU), has become the youngest solicitor in England and Wales at the age of who was raised in Isckon Mayapur in West Bengal, now lives in the UAE. She began her studies with The Open University at the age of years later, she gained a First Class Honours Degree in Law, aged just 18, becoming the youngest OU student to achieve the milestone. "Our youngest ever OU Law graduate Krishangi Meshram is in the record books again – qualifying as the youngest solicitor in England and Wales in recent times," the university later completed the Legal Practice Course (LPC) and a Master's degree took the Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE) in November 2024 and became the youngest solicitor in England and Wales in April this is also featured in the August 1 edition of the Law Society Gazette, the official magazine of the Law Society of England and Wales, which represents and regulates solicitors."Having completed all the prerequisites to qualify as a solicitor, I submitted my application to the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA). In April 2025, at the age of 21 years (and 4 months), I qualified as a solicitor in England and Wales," she told the her gratitude to the varsity, she said, "The Open University didn't just help me start my studies, it helped me believe in my potential. For that, I will always be grateful. Thank you for being such an integral part of my journey."Her next step, she says, will be to explore the legal dimensions of emerging digital technologies such as fintech, blockchains and AI and she aspires to work for leading law firms in the UK or UAE, according to the MESHRAM BALANCED BRITISH DEGREE AMBITION WITHOUT LEAVING FAMILYAt just 15, Meshram chose distance learning over relocating, seeking flexibility to study while travelling with her family."As I had studied British qualifications, I was keen to complete my degree at a university in the UK. However, at only 15, I didn't want to move away from my parents and younger sister. My family and I are also lucky enough to travel a lot, so I needed a study option that I could take with me on our adventures around the world," she was quoted as saying by OU."I chose to study law because I wanted a degree that would give me a breadth of transferrable knowledge. I didn't realise that I'd be gaining the valuable skills that the OU taught me, from self-discipline to organisation; getting a degree from the OU helped me to secure a remote role at a law firm in Singapore," the varsity quoted her as saying.- Ends
