WWE SmackDown results and highlights (8/15/2025): Alexa Bliss takes down Piper Niven, Street Profits stay winning, Sami Zayn, Jacob Fatu, & Jimmy Uso defeat MFT, and more
WWE SmackDown (Image via WWE) WWE 's Friday Night SmackDown's August 15th edition took place live from the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts. As the promotion inches towards its upcoming PLE, Clash in Paris, WWE is now using the time to further develop the storylines currently working. From Randy Orton to Drew McIntyre to the MFTs, many prominent stars are set to make an appearance tonight. And the Boston crowd looked ready to welcome everyone in their midst. Newly crowned WWE Undisputed Champion Cody Rhodes, and WWE Women's Champion Tiffany Stratton have also been advertised for tonight. And one half of the newest Tag team champions, Alexa Bliss , is set to take on Secret Hervice member Piper Niven. Let's see what tonight has in store for the fans. The night starts with the MFTs making their entrance, as Solo Sikoa reminds everyone that he and, by extension, their group run SmackDown. Before they can make any more tall claims, Sami Zayn comes in, who remembers he has never held the United States Championship. And maybe it's time to do that. Zayn also announced that he is now on SmackDown, and the confrontation soon turns into a fight. But it's not a fair fight from the beginning, as Sami Zayn is fighting all the members of MFT on his own. But not for long, as first Jimmy Uso , and then Jacob Fatu come in to even out the odds. SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis then comes out on stage to welcome the newest member of the division and announces that Sami Zayn is now the main event for tonight in a trio match, teaming with Jim Uso and Jacob Fatu against any three members of the MFTs. Alexa Bliss vs. Piper Niven The first match of the night belonged to Alexa Bliss and Piper Niven. Charlotte Flair, Alba Fyre, and Chelsea Green are also present. Niven comes in strong in the first few minutes, and Green runs interference for her, but soon, Bliss has had enough. She goes for a series of somersault sentons, followed by a DDT. Green tries to interfere again, but Flair is there to trip her up this time. Alba Fyre also tries to help Niven, but Bliss knocks her down. The match ends soon enough, after Little Miss Bliss defeats Niven with a schoolboy pin. Alexa Bliss wins via pinfall. Unfortunately, in the post-game chaos, Green and her Secret Hervice members overwhelm the WWE Women's Tag team champions, and stand tall saluting the audience while Bliss and Flair are lying on the mat. Fraxiom (Nathan Frazer & Axiom) vs. Melo Don't Miz (Carmelo Hayes & the Miz ) The Miz and Axiom start the match, but fans also see Joe Gacy and Dexter Lumis in the crowd, which seems to distract Miz. It's a series of Monkey flip, stereo bridges, enzuigiri, and DDT. Tags come one after the other, and the Fraxiom looks to be in control in the first half. In the last few moments, fans see Melo Hayes hit a final cut off the top, and while he had other plans, The Miz manages to tag himself in and goes for a Skull-Crushing Finale on Frazier. Melo is stunned by the sudden move, but they are the winners. Melo Don't Miz win via pinfall. Jade Cargill, who a few minutes back was confronting Jade Cargill and Nia Jax backstage, now meets Kiana James. James tells her she could team up with Giulia if Stratton wanted backup, but the latter brushes her off and walks away after a brief conversation. Mia Yim then comes in with a kendo stick over her shoulder and informs James that Giulia is set to fight her next. Next up, Drew McIntyre gets on the stage and addresses the situation with Cody Rhodes, and explains why he hit Rhodes with a Claymore. He has a speech prepared it seems, and gives the audience a glimpse into his plans. He is not the bad guy, but if provoked, he won't hesitate to do bad things. Lastly, he wishes for Rhodes to get well soon and takes the exit, but not before hitting the fans with a smug grin. #DIY (Johnny Gargano & Tommaso Ciampa) vs. Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins & Montez Ford) Tommaso Ciampa and Montez Ford start the fight, and #DIY lo oka to be in control at the beginning. A Penalty Kick from the apron, Candice LaRae throwing B-Fab into the steel steps, a Knee Trembler, a Fairytale Ending, a Frankensteiner off the apron by LeRae, who later gets wiped by B-Fab, and finally Ford off the top with the splash later, we have a winner. With a lateral press from Angelo Dawkins on Tommaso Ciampa, the fight comes to an end. Street Profits win via pinfall. Backstage, Melo Hayes comes up to SmackDown GM Nick Aldis, who is chatting with Motor City Machine Guns, and asks for a United States Championship match. But The Miz rolls in to play peacemaker. MCMG mocks Melo, and Aldis stops things from escalating by announcing another tag team match for next week - MCMG vs. Melo Don't Miz. We then see R-Truth backstage, who is over the moon to have his childhood hero, John Cena back. But suddenly, Aleister Black comes in to ask Truth if he was this excited about his other friend, Damian Priest. The former gets serious, and Black says he will see him next week before walking off. Sami Zayn, Jacob Fatu, & Jimmy Uso vs. MFTs (JC Mateo, Solo Sikoa, & Tonga Loa) Jimmy Uso and JC Mateo start off the last match of the night, and Big Jim is all over JC within minutes. Tag goes to Sami Zayn, who comes in with a diving axhandle to the elbow. Tonga Loa gets tagged in next, but at the corner, Solo Sikoa chokes Zayn, while Talla Tonga, who is not in the match tonight, gets in a cheap shot as well. Zayn is in the ring for a while, unable to tag in his partners, as Sikoa and the MFT take turns dominating him. Zayn gets in a few good hits from time to time, but mostly he is the one taking the hits. It takes a while, but he finally manages to tag Jacob Fatu in, who charges in at Loa. The match finally ends with quite a few things happening simultaneously. Fatu hits Talla Tonga, who tried to run interference, with a superkick and sends him over the announcer's desk. Zayn, on the other hand, manages to block a Samoan Spike with a knee and throws Sikoa into the corner with the exploder suplex. Finally, with a Helluva Kick from Zayn on Sikoa, the match comes to an end. Sami Zayn, Jacob Fatu, & Jimmy Uso win via pinfall. WWE officially moves Sami Zayn to the SmackDown roster
Tonight's (Aug. 15) episode of SmackDown kicked off with Solo Sikoa gloating about the MFTs' recent track record of stomping out babyfaces like Jimmy Uso, Sami Zayn, and Jacob Fatu. It didn't take long for Sami to interrupt Solo's interview for a little chat. He actually thanked Solo for screwing him out of a potential win over Rusev on this week's Raw. Zayn said that was the end of his world title chase, but it has now liberated him to accomplish so many other things in WWE. One of the items on his checklist is to win another belt he's never held before, the United States championship. Solo didn't take kindly to that threat, and told Sami to take his ass back to Raw where he belongs. That's when Zayn dropped some big news; he's now officially on the SmackDown roster! The MFTs attacked Sami at that point. Jimmy and Jacob came out for the save, setting up a six-man tag team main event match for later in the night. It was never explained what Raw gets in exchange for losing Sami, so I guess that will be revealed whenever WWE creative figures it out. What do you think about WWE's decision to move Sami over to SmackDown? Let me know in the comments below, Cagesiders.

WWE SmackDown takeaways: Cody Rhodes gets wrecked, John Cena gets Clash in Paris opponent
Cena gets Paul, Rhodes gets Claymored, and Charlotte Flair brings gifts for her non-friend. WWE Friday Night SmackDown on Aug. 8 took place at Bell Center in Montreal, and featured a tag team match between John Cena and Cody Rhodes against Drew McIntyre and Logan Paul. The fallout from SummerSlam and the build toward Clash in Paris was the theme of this week's episode. This was a good episode with solid backstage segments, such as the reunion of R-Truth and John Cena. Here's the top takeaways from this week's episode: John Cena addresses fans, sets Logan Paul match It appears babyface John Cena is back for the rest of his run. Opening this week's episode was Cena on the mic, addressing the fans. Cena put them over, saying they had the power to hijack the show, which is something that he's never been afraid of because he knows they are the show. "Thank you, Cena," chants echoed through the arena as he discussed the finals days before calling it a career in the ring. Cena said he was scared of letting everyone down on this last run and that he would be forgotten when he's gone. While on the topic of fears, he mentioned Brock Lesnar's name, but it ultimately led to his tag line, "If you want some, come get some." Enter Logan Paul. "F*ck you, Logan," chants quickly poured in as he yapped on his way to the ring. Paul reminded everyone that Cena said he "does WWE better than any professional wrestler." Cena acknowledged he did indeed say the quote in the past, but he added that Paul is the "biggest dumbass" he's ever seen. The back and forth led to chatter about a match between Paul and Cena at Clash in Paris. Drew McIntyre attacked Cena from behind. After dropping Cena, McIntyre and Paul started their own "Thank you Cena," chant. Cody Rhodes ran out to make the save, setting up a tag match for the main event of the show. So…Brock Lesnar isn't the next match for Cena, even though that's who attacked him at the very end of SummerSlam. Maybe they're just saving that for the end of Cena's run, but for now, it's Paul. There's othing like a good ol' rub from the vet to the relative newcomer. That match will have big shoes to fill following Cena vs. Rhodes at SummerSlam. Shoot, if that would have been Cena's final match, I think everyone would have been OK with that. Sami Zayn pins Solo Sikoa After JC Mateo and Talla Tonga picked up a win over Motor City Machine Guns, Solo Sikoa got on the mic and puffed up the MFTs dominance, as well as his own. Sikoa said he was feeling himself as the US champ, but since nobody in the back was going to step up to face him, it was time to celebrate. Enter Montreal's favorite son, Sami Zayn. The crowd went bananas as Zayn made his way to the ring, and the non-title match was set. It was an entertaining outing, with the expected interference from Sikoa's MFTs. The crowd was hot throughout for everything that favored Zayn. Sikoa and crew did everything they could to cost Zayn the match, but somehow, Zayn overcame to pick up the win and send Montreal into a frenzy. This was a feel-good moment for Zayn getting a win at home. The only thing that would have made this better is if the title was on the line. The Wyatt Sicks speak Well, this one is a quick takeaway, but it's a big change for the Wyatt Sicks: all of them are speaking now. In a pre-recorded vignette, Uncle Howdy led the way. However, after he finished speaking, the others said a few lines as well for the first time. All of them: the tag champs Joe Gacy and Dexter Lumis, plus Erick Rowan and Nikki Cross. The spooky group has seen an evolution in recent weeks. Not only are members holding and defending gold, but they have gone from complete mute to speaking up. I guess this means we'll get more promo from everyone, for better or worse. Charlotte Flair introduces Charly, beats Chelsea Green Charlotte Flair was in a giving mood for Alexa Bliss' birthday. Flair wanted to celebrate, and brought her tag team champion partner to the ring where a cake and a present were waiting. The cake said "Congratulations Charlotte & Alexa – P.S. Happy Birthday." The first two words were significantly larger than the rest, though. Bliss called Flair out for it, but Flair moved on to the gift. Bliss refused it because she was scared of what it could be. Flair revealed a Lilly doll with a "We're not friends" tee. She then revealed another doll that looked similar, Charly, but with a little more, umm, Flair. Flair waited for a hug from her non-friend, but Chelsea Green arrived with her Secret Hervice. A back and forth on the mic led to an impromptu singles match. The match was largely dominated by Flair, as expected. The ending was unique, though. Green got the upper hand momentarily, and called for her team to slide the cake into the ring. Green attempted to go for the Un-prettier into the cake, but was reversed. Flair hit the move onto the cake and then set up the Figure 8 – but not before swiping some icing from Green's face for a taste. The cake-covered tap came quickly after. As bad as the Bliss and Flair promo segments have been, this was their best one yet. It felt very Vince-ish with the inclusion of food, but I think we can all tell at this point they're gearing this program toward the much younger viewers, which is fine, as long as it's done well, which this was. Chaos after main event DQ The main event of this week's episode was a tag team match between John Cena and Cody Rhodes against Drew McIntyre and Logan Paul, which came to be in the opening segment. The ultra-babyface team of Cena and Rhodes were clearly favored by the crowd, as they showered Paul with more "F*ck you, Logan," chants. Soon after Cena was hot tagged in, he delivered building-shaking Five-Knuckle Shuffle to Paul. McIntyre blindsided Cena and went for a Claymore, but was stopped by Rhodes. Cena went back to get Paul up for the finish, but Paul went for a hard low blow, ending the match. Cena and Paul brawled up the aisle and into backstage, whilee McIntyre kept his focus on Rhodes. After staring at the title, McIntyre Claymored Rhodes through the front of the announce desk. Welp, the tag match didn't have much to it, but it was all to set up the final scene with Rhodes and McIntyre, which appears to be the next challenge for "QB1." We've never seen the announce desk get destroyed in that way before. It was unique and came off really brutal. Unfortunately for McIntyre, we know he's unlikely to take the title from Rhodes, considering that's one strap that doesn't get passed around quickly. Regardless, he's a credible enough opponent to make the match interesting.

Sami Zayn is once again the most over star in WWE
Tonight's (Aug. 8) episode of SmackDown in Montreal featured a tag team match where Talla Tonga and JC Mateo beat the Motor City Machine Guns. Solo Sikoa was pleased with his MFTs after the match was over and cut a promo about all the success that's coming their way. Solo hyped himself up as the greatest United States champion ever and talked trash about nobody being there in Montreal to fight him. That's when General Manager Nick Aldis interrupted and said he had a special opponent in mind for Sikoa tonight. Sami Zayn's music hit, and his hometown fans lost their frickin' minds. The Montreal crowd responded to Sami like it was early 2023 all over again when he was the most over star in WWE. The MFTs tried their best to screw Sami over, but he overcame their bullshit and rolled up the champ for the win in this non-title bout. This guy looks like a future babyface world champion to me. I'm just sayin'. Make it happen, WWE. Catch up on all the results from SmackDown in our live blog right here.
