Karnataka high court tells transport unions to halt strike till August 5
Bengaluru: The high court passed an interim order Monday directing the joint action committee (JAC) of the trade unions of Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) employees to put on hold their proposed strike until Tuesday.
A division bench of Justices KS Mudagal and MGS Kamal passed the order after hearing Deeksha N Amrutesh, counsel for the petitioners, and also counsel representing the govt and road transport corporations (RTCs).
"It is submitted that after issuing notice of indefinite strike on July 15, conciliation meetings were held on July 28 and Aug 2, and that process is still on. It is also submitted that today (Monday), the trade unions' JAC meeting with the CM is going on. If the entire public transport operation is stalled, people are likely to be put to hardship. Therefore, it is appropriate to grant interim stay till Tuesday, awaiting the outcome of negotiations with the govt," the court said.
