As MINI's first fully electric SUV, it's designed to offer both practicality and excitement, appealing to families and urban drivers alike. Whether weaving through tight urban streets or enjoying an open stretch of road, the Countryman SE ALL4 stays true to its brand's reputation for lively has equipped the Countryman SE ALL4 with an impressive suite of technology, particularly when it comes to parking. Advanced assistance features make parallel and perpendicular parking effortless, which is an especially welcome addition for city dwellers. Sensors and cameras provide precise guidance, and the automated parking function can take over entirely when needed. MINI's parking system makes simple reversing cameras seem like a relic. In the Countryman, MINI provides you with a top-down, 360-degree view of the car that lets you perfectly see where the car is in relation to everything around it. If you're anything like me and hyper-averse to curbing a wheel, the system provides an incredibly accurate view of the Countryman's wheels and the curb you're parking next the SUV features a modern, minimalist cabin. The standout is its circular infotainment screen, which serves as the central hub for controls and displays. The materials are upscale for the segment, with premium fabric door panels and available massaging seats, offering a surprisingly luxurious touch. Given the presence of massaging seats in our test model, I was surprised that the seats were not also ventilated, but that's far from a deal breaker for most people. Inside you also get a generous sunroof extending across both rows of seats. The sunroof can retract halfway, letting people in the front seats soak up the sun. In place of a traditional instrument cluster, the driver gets a minimal heads-up display that can show speed, directions, and music. The driver also gets an almost comically chunky steering wheel, which we're big fans of, and nice quality-of-life features like easy exit seat adjustments. The feature moves the seat before exiting the vehicle so it's easier to get out, and then it quickly glides back into your saved driving position once you get in and start up the all its strengths, the Countryman SE ALL4 does have some drawbacks, most notably, its range. With an EPA estimate of 212 miles (or 204 miles if equipped with 19-inch wheels), it trails behind rivals like the Volvo XC40 Recharge and Genesis GV60, both of which offer at least 230 miles per charge. For daily commuters, this may not be a huge issue, but those who frequently take longer trips may find the limited range frustrating. Another sticking point is the control layout. MINI's commitment to a sleek, button-free interior design has resulted in some usability concerns. On the dashboard, you'll find just a small handful of physical buttons for things like the parking camera and defrost settings — a somewhat odd selection of controls for the few buttons offered. Beyond that, you're left to navigate through a relatively unintuitive menu of controls through the signature round display in the center of the car. When looking through the various options in the Countryman's menu, I would even end up on submenus without knowing how exactly I got there, or how to get back after I left. Some of the nice features, like the massaging seats, are slightly spoiled by having to navigate through multiple submenus to turn them there's one thing MINI is known for, it is its styling. Even people who don't know what car they're looking at 95% of the time can still recognize a MINI. That fact holds true with the newest Countryman, but it feels more like a slightly awkward, bloated version of the MINI that everyone remembers. It's hard to point to any one aspect of its design as a problem in and of itself, but the overall aesthetic of the newest Countryman just feels … 2025 MINI Countryman SE ALL4 is a compelling option for those who prioritize urban agility, stylish design, and high-tech features. Its punchy acceleration and advanced parking assistance make it an attractive choice for city dwellers. However, its limited range and unconventional interior layout could be drawbacks for those who frequently take long drives or prefer traditional controls. Ultimately, if you're looking for a fun-to-drive electric SUV with plenty of personality and don't mind occasional charging stops, the Countryman SE ALL4 is a solid contender.
