Nashik civic body starts repairing city roads, fills over 6,000 potholes in a week

Nashik: With the rain taking a break, the Nashik Municipal Corporation's (NMC) public works department has commenced extensive road repair operations across the city. The civic administration announced on Tuesday that it had successfully filled 6,226 potholes across the six divisions within the last week alone. These crucial road repair efforts began ahead of chief minister Devendra Fadnavis's two-day visit to Nashik city on Sunday and Monday. During his visit, the chief minister travelled through various city roads while attending multiple programmes. The condition of roads in Nashik had significantly worsened due to continuous heavy rainfall last month, posing considerable risks to motorists. Furthermore, roads excavated by Maharashtra Natural Gas Ltd (MNGL) for laying piped natural gas pipelines added to the deterioration. While the NMC had initially planned to begin repair works from May 15, persistent showers prevented these efforts. Now, with the rainfall having ceased, the civic body has been able to fully embark on its road repair agenda. An NMC official, while talking to TOI, said they conducted a fresh survey of the city roads and found around 9,000 potholes in various parts of the city. "So far, we have filled 6,226 potholes and the remaining will be repaired shortly. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Free P2,000 GCash eGift UnionBank Credit Card Apply Now At 3,831, most potholes were repaired in the Panchavati division followed by over 2,800 potholes in the Cidco division," the official said. "The roads that were dug up by the MNGL and other agencies for various purposes deteriorated the road conditions of most of the city roads. We have also started repairs of such roads. We also gave work orders to the agencies concerned for road repairs and resurfacing of some stretches of the city roads amounting to Rs 90 crore," the official added The official said all the city roads are to be repaired in the next couple of weeks.

Nashik civic body to use GSB material to temporarily fix potholes across city

Nashik: Continuous rainfall in May has worsened road conditions in parts of Nashik city. As tarring work is not possible owing to the downpour, the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) has opted for temporary repairs using Granular Sub-base (GSB) material. The civic body had initially planned to begin tarring of roads on May 15, but persistent rain led to delays. Areas significantly affected include Ambad, the Tarwala Nagar-Amrutdham route, various parts of Panchavati, Cidco division, Dindori, Makhamalabad, Peth Road, Jail Road, and Satpur. Nashik has experienced heavy rainfall for the past few weeks, severely impacting most city roads. Adding to the problem, some roads damaged during last year's monsoon are yet to be repaired. The NMC, during a survey conducted earlier this year in Feb, had identified 10,000 potholes in various parts of the city. Municipal commissioner Manisha Khatri also gave a deadline of March-end to complete the repair works of all the potholes. The public works department (PWD), however, could repair only 70% of the potholes. Moreover, the roads that were dug by the Maharashtra Natural Gas Ltd (MNGL) and other organisations for piped natural gas installations have deteriorated the road conditions of most of the city roads as they are yet to be repaired. The NMC has already issued work orders of around Rs90 crore to the agencies concerned for repairs and resurfacing of some roads. It also includes Rs52 crore for repair of roads dug by the MNGL and other agencies. The remaining amount will be spent on repairing roads across all six divisions. An NMC official, while talking to TOI, said, "The plan was to start road repair works from May 15, but rain played spoilsport. Now, as it is still raining, it is not possible to carry out tar works. Hence, instructions have been given to officials concerned to repair the road potholes temporarily using the GSB material," a senior NMC official said. "Instructions have been given to the PWD officials to submit the reports related to road repair works after every alternate day. Our objective is to repair the roads at least temporarily so that the city residents would not face inconvenience due to the bad condition of some of the city roads," the official added.

Condition of Nashik city roads deteriorates further, civic body to spend Rs 90 crore on repairs

Nashik: The rainfall over the past fortnight has worsened the condition of roads across Nashik city, causing major inconvenience to residents. The Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) plans to commence road repairs within two to three days of the rainfall subsiding. The civic body has already issued work orders worth Rs 90 crore to relevant agencies for road repairs and resurfacing selected road sections. The continuous heavy rainfall in Nashik over the past two weeks has taken a toll. Additionally, excavations by the Maharashtra Natural Gas Ltd (MNGL) and other agencies to install piped natural gas infrastructure remain unrepaired, contributing to the poor road conditions. The deterioration is particularly noticeable in the Cidco division, the Tarwala Nagar-Amrutdham route, various sections of Dindori, Makhamalabad, Peth Road, Jail Road, both Satpur and Ambad MIDC areas, and other locations across Nashik city. NMC officials said their initial plan to begin repairs on May 15 had to be delayed due to rainfall. "We have also told the MNGL and other agencies to immediately stop the digging of roads for piped natural gas installations and other works. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Memperdagangkan CFD Emas dengan salah satu spread terendah? "We are planning to start the road repair works once the rain stops. We will be repairing all the city roads within the next four weeks. We want to repair all the city roads," said officials. From the total allocation of Rs 90 crore, approximately Rs 52 crore is designated for repairing roads excavated by MNGL (for PNG line installation) and other agencies.

Rain takes a toll on most Nashik city roads

Nashik: The city's road infrastructure has severely degraded in recent days of intense rainfall. The civic authority's inaction in road maintenance, coupled with unrestored excavations by the Maharashtra Natural Gas Ltd (MNGL) and other organisations for piped natural gas installations, has exacerbated the situation. The deterioration is particularly noticeable in the Cidco division, along the Tarwala Nagar-Amrutdham route, and various parts of Dindori, Makhamalabad, Peth Road, Jail Road, and both Satpur and Ambad MIDC areas. Manoj Chaughule, a resident of the city, said the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) had failed to repair most of the Panchavati division roads since the previous monsoon. "Some roads were temporarily fixed, but the stretch of road near Tarwala Nagar traffic junction towards Amrutdham has deteriorated. Moreover, water also accumulated on the road behind Sharadchandra Pawar APMC that links Makhmalabad Road and Peth Road stretch," said Chaughule. "The recent heavy showers have badly affected the roads in these areas. We want the civic administration to undertake the roads at the earliest," he said. Near Pelican Park in Cidco, road conditions have worsened considerably. Resident Swapnil Sathe pointed out expanding potholes and significant road damage along Swami Vivekanand Nagar Road near Rane Nagar. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like ¡Limpia tus arterias y equilibra tu presión ya! Another resident, Vishnu Gavande, highlighted the extensive road damage near Ambad-Trimurti Chowk's elevated water tank in Pawan Nagar. Despite raising concerns with authorities, repairs remain incomplete. Residents urge repairs before monsoon arrival. Roads excavated by MNGL and other organisations across various areas await NMC attention. Recent rainfall has further deteriorated these damaged sections. In Jan, following NMC commissioner Manisha Khatri's directive, a survey found over 10,000 potholes across six divisions. Despite a March deadline, about 30% of the work remains incomplete. NMC officials confirmed instructing MNGL and other agencies to complete works before May 15. Road excavation activities have ceased for repairs, with maintenance taking place across the city. The NMC's standing committee has approved Rs 81 crore for various road works. Contractors have received instructions to begin work immediately. These projects focus on resurfacing MNGL-excavated roads for PNG pipelines and properly restoring roads that received temporary repairs during the previous monsoon.
