At KL book fair, vintage sneaker brand Fung Keong turns heads with Keluang Man and M. Nasir collabs

KUALA LUMPUR, May 26 — It's called the Kuala Lumpur International Book Fair (KLIBF) 2025. However, the independent publishing house Rabak-Lit is attracting attention for more than just books. Since its merger with Fung Keong, a Malaysian shoes brand popular in the 80s and 90s, the publisher has been showcasing these sneakers at the popular book event, which you would not want to miss. Also known as FK Sneakers, it is no strangers to collaborations, with a track record of success across the country. While it's only been three days since the launch of KLIBF, the sneakers taking centre stage are none other than the Keluang Man edition, just released with the film's gala premiere on May 22. Its style features a retro-classic design inspired by the hero Keluang Man's costume. Fung Keong shoes displayed at Rabak Lit booth during Kuala Lumpur International Book Fair 2025 at Kuala Lumpur. Nasir sneakers, a special collaboration with Malaysia's legendary musician, Datuk M. Nasir. The sneakers pay tribute to the iconic 1986 film in which M. Nasir starred — and, as shared by Rabak-Lit brand owner Izzat Amir, the pair was even worn in the movie. 'We also have sneaker collaborations with Malaysian actor Adam John and the Kelantanese punk band No Good that emerged from the Malaysian indie scene,' he told Malay Mail when visiting its booth at the 4th floor of World Trade Centre KL. In addition to showcasing their already impressive FK sneakers, this year, Rabak-Lit is offering a curated selection of alternative books aimed at niche audiences, including indie music fans, experimental poetry readers, local film buffs, and those interested in politics. If that's got you curious to check out the cool sneakers and new titles, just note that Rabak-Lit has two booths at KLIBF — both offering the same selection of sneakers and books. KLIBF has been a staple for book enthusiasts for decades, and this year, Rabak-Lit's branded sneakers are set to turn even more heads in the coming days. The fair runs until June 1, so there's still plenty of time to stop by and add to your to-do list.

Caught in 4K: Netizens React To Mysterious Search History 'Leak' On KL Billboard

Whether we like to admit it or not, our internet search history has become an absolute safekeeping that would leak some pretty embarrassing things about ourselves. From searching about weird topics or stalking a random celebrity, we'd rather keep those enquiries private. However, from 13th to 14th May 2025, commuters on the LDP highway were met with a peculiar sight of someone's search history flashed on a massive digital billboard for all to see. The search history was what we can describe as very human queries, sparking netizens to wonder what would appear next. Instead of the usual advertisements, the search history pop-up was framed to look like an error message, which had some interesting and mildly concerning queries. As shown in photos, the anonymous 'user' was looking for answers to, 'Who is M Nasir?', 'Is pickleball overrated?', 'Can I play Hauntu alone?', 'What does cat food taste like?' 'What's the main attraction of Sabah?', and 'Why (is my) body itchy after thrifting?'. Netizens were quick to share their sightings of the billboard on social media, with some speculating what this showcase might be. While other users ponder over those interesting queries, such as Twitter user @Angelinebabyyy commenting, 'Who in their right mind wakes up and wonders what cat food tastes like?', TikTok user @/hafizkodin speculates that this might be an ad for the upcoming 'Ejen Ali 2' movie. Hauntu Malaysia also spotted the sighting and posted on their Twitter with the caption, 'Spotted this billboard this morning. Someone was definitely having Tuesday blues, but for real though, who dares to go Hauntu alone? And who in Malaysia doesn't know M Nasir??'. Is this a new marketing gimmick for brands, or is this just an honest glitch? Check out this video of the viral billboard, which also gives you tips on how to delete your browser history: Source: Twitter (1)(2), TikTok Alyssa Gabrielle contributed to this article

M. Nasir visits Anwar in Putrajaya as PM pledges stronger backing for arts, culture and music scene

KUALA LUMPUR, May 3 — The Madani government will continue to intensify efforts to support local artistes to produce high-quality, outstanding works, said Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. The Prime Minister said this commitment was among the matters discussed during a meeting with legendary artiste Datuk M Nasir at his office in Putrajaya yesterday. 'Yesterday, I received a visit from renowned artiste Datuk M Nasir in Putrajaya. During the meeting, we discussed the creative industry, and local arts and culture,' he said in a Facebook post. The Prime Minister also encouraged M Nasir to remain creative in contributing to the local music industry. M Nasir, whose real name is Mohd Nasir Mohamed, 67, is known for his intellectual and spiritual-themed works and is regarded as one of the most influential figures in the development of Malaysian music and creative arts. In addition to being a singer and composer, he is also recognised as an actor, lyricist and art director who has played a major role in shaping cultural identity within the local entertainment scene. — Bernama
