Vizianagaram: As part of the month-long Yogandhra-25 initiative, the Vizianagaram district administration is set to launch a massive yoga training campaign at the village level. Joint Collector and Yogandhra District Special Officer S. Sethumadhavan has directed MPDOs to immediately identify and register 4,400 yoga instructors to conduct grassroots training programs. From May 27 to 31, master trainers will train these selected instructors in their respective mandals. Each village secretariat jurisdiction is to identify seven yoga instructors, and their names must be promptly uploaded online. To facilitate the training, two master trainers will be assigned to each mandal. In an online review meeting held on Saturday, the Joint Collector discussed the preparation plans for Yogandhra-25 with district officials, program committee members, MPDOs, and municipal commissioners. It was announced that those who complete the five-day training will receive certification from the National Institute of Yoga. These certified instructors will then be responsible for conducting yoga training programs at the village level. Additionally, daily yoga sessions for city residents will commence from Monday, with classes to be held at the Paidithalli Ammavari Temple on Mondays and Tuesdays from 6 AM to 8 AM. Municipal Commissioner Nallanayya confirmed the arrangements for the same. The district tourism officer has been instructed to make necessary arrangements for yoga sessions at four major tourist locations in the district on May 30. All government departments have been tasked with encouraging mass participation in the International Day of Yoga celebrations. Officials are to ensure that their staff register through the yoga portal and also promote participation among the public within their departmental jurisdictions. Registered participants are expected to attend the main event on Yoga Day 21 June without fail.

Nellore: District Collector O Anand has directed the officials to ensure for larger participation of people in Yoga Programmes scheduled from May 23 to June 21 in the district. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also be participating in the International Yoga Day at Visakhapatnam scheduled on June 21, Collector stated during a tele conference held with the officials on Friday. Collector has ordered the ZP CEO, DM&HO, Ayush and other department officials to conduct awareness camps entire the district for one-month scheduled from 23rd May to 21st June in the district. He has also ordered the MPDOs to motivate the villagers of their respective areas about the benefits of Yoga.

Tirupati: Collector Dr S Venkateswar has directed concerned officials to ensure the effective implementation of the Swarna Andhra and Swachh Andhra programmes across the district, while also taking stringent precautionary measures in view of the ongoing summer heat. In a teleconference held on Friday, the Collector discussed the status of the flagship campaigns and the preparedness of departments in tackling summer conditions. The meeting was attended by Tirupati Municipal Commissioner N Mourya, District Panchayat Officer (DPO) Suseela Devi, MPDOs, Tahsildars, and officials from other related departments. During the interaction, Dr Venkateswar stressed the need to set up and maintain 'Chalivendras' (drinking water kiosks), shaded shelters, and shade nets across all regions to help people cope with rising temperatures. While there has been some respite in weather conditions, the Collector cautioned that heatstroke remains a threat and public awareness campaigns must be carried out to prevent such incidents. The Collector instructed officials to prioritise high-footfall areas for the application of white cool paints and to implement rooftop gardening on government buildings. Shade nets should be installed at busy traffic junctions, and temporary shelters should be erected at places frequently visited by the public. Special attention must be paid to children and the elderly, with awareness drives and health camps aimed at preventing heat-related illnesses. Municipal Commissioner N Mourya reported that shaded shelters, water kiosks, and shade nets had already been set up in many areas under municipal limits. He assured that remaining localities would soon be covered and added that awareness sessions on rooftop gardens and plantation drives are being planned for local secretaries. DPO Suseela Devi highlighted the distress caused to birds and animals due to lack of drinking water, noting bird deaths observed in some areas. She suggested placing clay water pots in parks and temples to ensure hydration for animals during the summer.

Gadwal: On Friday, a review meeting was held at the IDOC Conference Hall on Indiramma housing, Rajiv Yuva Vikasam scheme, and paddy procurement centers with the concerned officials. District Collector B.Y.M. Santhosh presided over the meeting and issued key directives to ensure swift progress in the implementation of these schemes. During the meeting, the Collector conducted a detailed review of the progress of Indiramma housing construction on a mandal-wise basis. He inquired about the status of grounding, basement work, marking, and re-verification for the sanctioned houses. He instructed officials to encourage beneficiaries to accelerate the construction process and to educate them about cost-effective construction techniques. The Collector also emphasized timely updates in the online application to ensure swift release of government assistance to beneficiaries. He stated that funds will be transferred directly to the beneficiaries' accounts based on the construction stage. He directed officials to work in coordination and ensure speedy completion of housing projects. In municipalities, officials were instructed to conduct daily field visits, provide guidance to eligible beneficiaries, and fast-track the completion of construction. He reiterated that Indiramma houses should be allotted only to the deserving poor. Rajiv Yuva Vikasam Scheme Application Scrutiny to be Expedited The Collector also instructed officials to speed up the scrutiny of applications received under the Rajiv Yuva Vikasam scheme. During the selection of eligible candidates, he insisted on strict adherence to eligibility norms including Aadhaar, income, and caste certificates. He directed MPDOs and municipal commissioners to download applications, categorize them by corporation and bank, and forward them to the respective banks. Bank officials were instructed to review the applications and submit eligibility reports. Officials were urged to carefully examine every application and select only genuinely eligible candidates. He stressed the importance of coordination between district officials and bankers to achieve the scheme's targets. Efficient Paddy Procurement at Centers is a Must: Collector Regarding paddy procurement, Collector Santhosh directed that the process be carried out efficiently at all procurement centers. He instructed the center officials to immediately enter details into the OPMS system once paddy is procured. Moisture content of the paddy brought in by farmers should be checked, and if within limits, the paddy should be promptly purchased and moved to designated mills. He also instructed officials to ensure there is no shortage of gunny bags. Given the recent dust storms and untimely rains, he ordered tarpaulins to be made available to prevent paddy from getting wet. Civil supplies officials were told to regularly inspect procurement centers and remain alert. The Collector also emphasized that only quality paddy arriving at centers should be procured swiftly. Present at the meeting were Additional District Collector Narsinga Rao, ED SC Corporation Ramesh Babu, LDM Srinivasa Rao, Civil Supplies Officer Swami Kumar, Civil Supplies DM Vimala, Housing PD Srinivasulu, municipal commissioners, MPDOs, and other key officials.

Officials told to address drinking water issues

Kondapi: Social welfare minister Dr Dola Sree Bala Veeranjaneya Swamy instructed the officials to take necessary measures to prevent drinking water shortage for the locals in the Kondapi assembly constituency during the summer season. On Tuesday, he conducted a review meeting with the MPDOs, EPRDOs, and Panchayat Secretaries from six mandals of the constituency and examined village-specific issues at his camp office in Turpu Nayudupalem. The review focused on several infrastructure concerns, including water supply, electricity, CC roads, sanitation, and drainage systems. The Minister listened to officials outlining various challenges before providing directions. Speaking to the officials, Minister Swamy emphasised that officials must ensure no drinking water problems occur during summer. He ordered immediate repairs for damaged motors and stressed that no village should face water scarcity. He directed officials to enhance greenery and cleanliness in villages, regularly clear drainage systems, and conduct the 'Swachh Andhra- Swarna Andhra' programme on the third Saturday of every month in all villages. He directed the officials to install streetlights across all villages. The Minister asked officials to work with accountability to maintain the government's good reputation with the public. The minister said that within just one year of the alliance government taking power, significant development and welfare programmes have been implemented across the state. He stated that under the leadership of Chandrababu Naidu, Andhra Pradesh is progressing rapidly on the path of development.
