Bhopal/Jabalpur: A division bench of the MP high court issued notices to the National Medical Commission and MP Medical Science University , seeking their response to a petition filed by an MBBS student seeking a ' mercy attempt ' to pass the first-year exam after failing in the four attempts allowed to MBBS studentsVikas Sikarwar from Morena, in his petition, said that the financial condition of his family is not good and his family wants him to become a doctor and serve the society. He cleared NEET in 2022 and MBBS students get four attempts to pass the exam. In the fourth attempt, he got 141 marks, nine marks less than the minimum required to pass the for the petitioner, Senior Counsel Aditya Sanghi said that after taking admission at Bundelkhand Medical College in Sagar, the petitioner went into depression because of the college atmosphere and failed to concentrate on studies. He failed in the last attempt by only 9 marks, and if a 'mercy attempt' is not given to him, his dream of becoming a doctor would be shattered. He mentioned that a 'mercy attempt' was given to students during the Covid pandemic as well. The petitioner could also be granted one final chance, he initial arguments, the bench of Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva and Justice Vinay Saraf issued notices to the respondents in the case—National Medical Commission and MP Medical Science University—seeking a response to the petition.
