MWL chief meets Afghan PM, stresses scholars' role in dialogue-based solutions
Saudi Gazette report KABUL — Afghan Prime Minister Mohammad Hassan Akhund received Sheikh Dr. Mohammed Al-Issa, Secretary-General of the Muslim World League (MWL) and Chairman of the Association of Muslim Scholars, at the Gul Khana Palace in Kabul on Monday. The two sides discussed several issues of mutual concern, emphasizing the vital role Muslim scholars play in addressing major challenges through meaningful and effective dialogue to achieve tangible, positive outcomes. Dr. Al-Issa arrived in the Afghan capital on Monday for an official visit, during which he is scheduled to meet senior government officials and leading scholars. The MWL delegation was received by a number of high-ranking religious and governmental figures, as well as the Director-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation's mission in Kabul. GCC and Muslim World League condemn Israeli strikes on Syria
Saudi Gazette report RIYADH — The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) strongly condemned Israel's latest airstrikes on Syrian territory, reaffirming its firm support for Syria's sovereignty and territorial integrity and rejecting any foreign interference that could aggravate the suffering of the Syrian people. In a statement issued Wednesday, GCC Secretary-General Jassem Albudaiwi described the Israeli attacks as a flagrant violation of Syria's sovereignty and a breach of international law and norms. He warned that such aggression poses a serious threat to regional stability and constitutes an irresponsible escalation that disregards international efforts to secure peace in Syria and the wider region. Albudaiwi called on the international community to take responsibility for halting these violations, holding the perpetrators accountable, and protecting the Syrian people in accordance with the UN Charter and international law. Separately, the Muslim World League (MWL) reiterated its solidarity with the Syrian government and people in confronting threats to their security, unity, and sovereignty. In a statement from its General Secretariat, the MWL voiced support for Syria's efforts to restore civil peace, uphold the rule of law, and protect all segments of its population. The League also condemned Israel's repeated violations of international law through its ongoing aggression on Syrian territory. Wednesday's Israeli air raids targeted the General Staff building in Damascus, causing extensive damage, according to Syrian media. The country's Ministry of Health reported that 13 people were injured in the strike. Additional Israeli airstrikes were reported in the southern province of Suwayda, killing three senior Syrian military and security officers and injuring several civilians.

MWL chief welcomes Uzbek official, hails Center's efforts in promoting Islamic values
Saudi Gazette report MAKKAH — Secretary-General of the Muslim World League (MWL) and Chairman of the Organization of Muslim Scholars, Sheikh Dr. Mohammed Al-Issa, received Dr. Firdavs Firdonovich Abdukhalikov, Chairman of the Center for Islamic Civilization under the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan, at the League's headquarters in Makkah. Dr. Al-Issa underscored the significance of the Center's role in promoting Islamic civilization, particularly in addressing misconceptions and countering negative stereotypes about Islam. For his part, Dr. Abdukhalikov expressed, on behalf of the Uzbek government, his pride in the MWL's global efforts and the esteem it holds in the Muslim world and beyond. He praised Dr. Al-Issa's international engagement, especially his address at the United Nations marking the first International Day to Combat Islamophobia, where he represented Muslim communities at the invitation of the UN General Assembly.

In an official statement, the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs conveyed the Kingdom's sorrow over the tragedy and extended heartfelt sympathies to the families of the victims. The statement also wished a swift recovery for those injured and reaffirmed Saudi Arabia's solidarity with Sudan during this difficult time. 'Saudi Arabia stands in full solidarity with the Republic of Sudan in these painful circumstances,' the ministry said, highlighting the strong fraternal ties between the two nations. The collapse took place in Sudan's Northern State, where a mine shaft caved in, killing at least 11 miners and trapping others underground. Rescue operations are ongoing as Sudanese authorities work to assess the full scale of the mining is a major source of income in Sudan, yet the sector is often plagued by unsafe practices and poor infrastructure. Muslim World League Offers Condolences to Sudan over Victims of Mine Collapse
The Muslim World League (MWL) extended its condolences and heartfelt sympathy to the Republic of Sudan and the families of the victims and injured following the collapse of a gold mine, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Monday. In a statement by its General Secretariat, the MWL expressed solidarity and sympathy with the Sudanese people in general and with the families of the victims in particular over this tragic incident, and wished the injured a swift recovery. A gold mine partly collapsed in eastern Sudan, killing 11 miners, over the weekend in the desert town of Houeid in the eastern Nile River province. Another seven workers were injured and transferred to a hospital.
