Fox Raceway Motocross 2025 preview: Top finishes, previous winners, historic results, who to watch
The Pro Motocross series opens at Fox Raceway in Pala, California, for the fifth consecutive season with the 11th edition of an outdoor round on the track. This venue has both launched and finalized seasons, but one thing has remained the same during its recent history: the domination of the Lawrence brothers. Jett Lawrence is undefeated in Pala in the 450 division. He swept the two motos in 2023 and 2024 to launch both seasons with a notable lead. Before that, he was the overall winner of five consecutive 250 divisional rounds, scoring seven moto wins and three second-place finishes in the process. As soon as Jett moved up to the senior division, Hunter Lawrence took his place by finishing third in the first race and winning the second moto for the overall 250 win in 2023. In 2024, he was second to Jett with second and third-place results in the 450 class. The last time someone other than Jett won a 450 race in Pala, Eli Tomac swept the 2022 event. He has another overall win in 2021 with results of second and first. The reigning Motocross champion, Chase Sexton, finished third behind the Lawrences last year, was second to Jett in 2023 and Tomac in the second race of 2022, and won the opener in 2022. These are riders to watch this week, even though Jett, Tomac, and Hunter are all returning from injury. Jett and Tomac have never raced one another in Pro Motocross. It will be interesting to see if they renew their Supercross battle from one hour south of Pala when Tomac beat Jett in beast mode. No one other than Jett and Sexton has won in the past two seasons. Sexton filled the gap when Jett was forced to the sidelines, winning 11 times while Jett was recovering from a thumb injury last year and an ACL injury during this 2025 season. They are not the only riders to watch, however. Jorge Prado and Jason Anderson will also return to action in Pala, adding to the championship appeal. Between them, five riders returning from injury or illness represent 13 titles, including those won by Prado in MXGP, according to In addition to Prado's 450 championships, he has a pair in the 250 class (2018 and 2019). If he stays healthy, it is difficult to imagine that he will not play the role of spoiler. The only time a rider with a last name other than Lawrence won in the 250 division at Fox Raceway in the past five years was Haiden Deegan, who swept the motos in 2024. Deegan could be challenged if Jo Shimoda picks up the pace in the second race. He has an average finish of 5.3 in Moto 1 versus 10.4 in Moto 2. Motocross betting odds set expectations for Pro Motocross championship
A new season brings fresh betting odds to one of the SuperMotocross League's championship battles, with wagering lines associated with more than a dozen riders. Returning from injury quicker than many athletes, Jett Lawrence returns to traders' attention and, unsurprisingly for a rider who recorded a perfect Pro Motocross season as a rookie, he is the overwhelming favorite with a minus line of -250. This expresses a difference of 581 points over the second-ranked rider, and the respect is well-earned, given that Lawrence has won overall victories in all but one of the 16 Pro Motocross rounds in which he's competed. By comparison, Cooper Webb ended the Supercross season with a nine-point advantage entering the finale and a differential of about 500 points over Chase Sexton. The primary consideration for bettors is whether this line will stabilize quickly or continue to be increasingly punitive. If Lawrence suffers from the lingering effects of his knee injury and fails to win either the season opener at Fox Raceway in Pala, California, this weekend or the Hangtown Motocross Classic in Rancho Cordova, California, there is the potential for traders to amend the line closer toward even to get more juice. Interestingly, Eli Tomac is the second-favored rider in the field at +331. Tomac is also returning, but the nature of his injury is different. Isolating and stabilizing Tomac's broken fibula would presumably be easier than providing additional strength for Lawrence's knee. The real wager between these two is their relative health for the duration of the season. Also, one cannot overlook the head-to-head battle between Tomac and Lawrence in Round 2 of the Monster Energy Supercross season that saw Tomac extend his winning streak to 11 years. Last year's Motocross champion, Chase Sexton (+515), landed fourth on the opening odds chart. He took advantage of the departure of both Jett and Tomac from the lineup on his way to a 42-point victory over Hunter Lawrence. Bettors should not readily discount his odds, however, as Sexton showed greater maturity in 2025's Supercross title match and made far fewer mistakes under pressure than in previous seasons. Hunter (+994) is the only other rider under 10/1 entering Pala and should be considered since he pressured Sexton until the final round last year. The remainder of the field are dark horses with the 2025 Supercross champion launching with a line of 79/1. In his post-race news conference at Salt Lake City, Webb said he was not thinking about the outdoor season. Odds are favorable, he is taking it seriously now. As with Jett and Lawrence, he failed to mount up for all 11 Motocross rounds with an injured thumb. Jorge Prado (+8233) is another attractive dark horse worth some couch cushion money. Injury and an unfamiliarity with stadium dirt bike racing have denied the Spanish rider an opportunity to show his mettle in America. Still, one must not forget that he won the MXGP championships in 2023 and 2024. If he finishes in the top five in both motos in Pala, it is unlikely his odds will remain this attractive. Championship Opening Odds Jett Lawrence, -250 Eli Tomac, +331 Chase Sexton, +515 Hunter Lawrence, +994 Cooper Webb, +7900 Jorge Prado, +8233 Jason Anderson, +8909 Justin Cooper, +8909 Aaron Plessinger, +8909 Joey Savatgy, +8909 Malcolm Stewart, +9704 Coty Schock, +9704 Colt Nichols, +9704 More SuperMotocross News Bajaj Auto Ltd secures loan, potentially for KTM Alexander Fedortsov to turn pro in MX opener Levi Kitchen renews with Pro Circuit Malcolm Stewart launches fishing apparel line Dylan Ferrandis to miss start of Pro MX Salt Lake City 450 SX results | 250 results Sexton wins 7th race, Webb 3rd title Haiden Deegan wins final 250 E/W Showdown 450 SX Salt Lake City heats | 250 heats Chase Sexton sweeps SLC SX Qualification

Update: Jorge Prado begins training after shoulder injury
Jorge Prado has begun training following a crash and shoulder injury in qualification for Round 3 of the Monster Energy Supercross season. The injury necessitated surgery, for which he returned to his native Spain. 'Happy Days! Missed riding my bike so bad,' Prado posted on social media. Prado entered the season with high expectations after signing with Monster Energy Kawasaki for the full 2025 SuperMotocross League schedule, but his first two Supercross efforts failed to produce a top-10 finish. He was 14th in the season opener in Anaheim, California, and 12th in San Diego. A timeline for his return has not been announced, but he and the team are likely eyeing a return for the Pro Motocross season, which begins May 24, 2025, at Fox Raceway in Pala, California. Prado won the European outdoor, MXGP championship in back-to-back seasons (2023 and 2024), so this riding style is better suited to the Spanish rider.
