Thousands visit Ghatagaon temple to observe Tarini brata
Keonjhar: Thousands of devotees from across the state gathered in Ghatagaon, Keonjhar district, on Tuesday to observe 'Tarini Brata'. The highlight of the festival was the golden attire of Maa Tarini, drawing devotees in large numbers.
'Tarini Brata' is celebrated annually on a Tuesday between Rath Yatra and Bahuda Yatra. On the auspicious day, devotees, predominantly women, participate in a ritual where they tie a sacred thread, known as 'brata', after offering prayers at the Maa Tarini Temple.
The local administration and temple trust implemented several measures to ensure peaceful observance.
The day began with priests and servitors performing various rituals early in the morning.
Following the rituals, the temple gates were opened for devotees. Devotees patiently waited in long queues to offer prayers.
"Special arrangements, such as setting up barricades and deployment of police personnel and volunteers, have been made for a peaceful darshan," said Sanjiv Mohapatra, executive officer of the temple trust.
In Keonjhar, 'Tarini Brata' was also observed at Gundicha Temple. Women offered puja to Lord Baladevjew and tied the 'brata' in the name of Maa Tarini.

Coinciding with 'Hera Panchami,' the endowment department, along with the district administration, arranged several facilities for darshan of the deities and observance of 'Tarini Brata'. "In the evening, Maa Laxmi will be taken from Sri Baladevjew Temple to Gundicha Temple. As per ritual, Maa Laxmi will return to Baladevjew Temple, symbolically breaking the chariot," explained Panchanan Sahu, a caretaker of the Baladevjew Temple.
