College Corinthians come from behind to beat Douglas Hall in U16 cup final
College Corinthians 3-1 Douglas Hall (AET)
Goals from Matthew Sullivan and Edmund Burke were the difference as College Corinthians came from behind to defeat Douglas 3-1, after extra-time, in the U16 JOMA/SportsGear Local Cup final at Turner's Cross.
The eventual winners trailed through a MacDarragh Lynch goal late on but they equalised through James McCarthy in the dying seconds.
Corinthians then wrapped things up with a breakaway strike at the St Anne's End.
It was a final in every sense with clear-cut chances hard to come by and both goalkeepers, Alex Daly and Edward Pierce, standing up when needed.
Liam O'Regan did fire the ball just over the bar at the end of the first half for Douglas Hall and Corinthians had one of their best opportunities three minutes into the second half.
Douglas Hall fully went for it late in the game and out of that came the MacDarragh Lynch header which opened the scoring.
James McCarthy forced extra-time from the same position in the dying seconds, and Mathew Sullivan did it to win it at the start of the first period.
Douglas Hall had to push up as time started running out, and that meant room for Edmund Burke to break and get the third goal.
