Man, 30s, seriously injured in horror smash involving pedestrian and car
A man has been seriously injured following a road traffic collision involving a pedestrian and car.
The collision occurred on the R582 at Gurteenroe, Macroom, Co. Cork, in the early hours of Sunday morning
Shortly after 2am, Gardaí and emergency services were alerted to an incident involving a car and a pedestrian. This tragic incident follows the horrific deaths of two men on Saturday in separate road traffic collisions in Tipperary and Waterford respectively.
The pedestrian, a man aged in his 30s, was discovered with serious injuries at the scene. He received medical treatment and was taken to Cork University Hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.

The scene was preserved for a technical examination. The road has since reopened.
"Gardaí are appealing for witnesses who may have any information regarding the incident to come forward," said a gardai spokesperson.
"Road users with camera footage, including dash-cam recordings, who were travelling on the Millstreet Road in the Macroom area between 1am and 2.15am on Sunday, 10th August 2025, are asked to share this material with Gardaí.
"Anyone with information is asked to contact Macroom Garda Station at (026) 20590, the Garda Confidential Line at 1800 666 111, or any Garda station," the spokesperson added.
