6 students dead, over 15 injured as school roof collapses in Rajasthan's Jhalawar
Six students were killed and more than 15 were injured after the roof of a primary school building collapsed in Rajasthan's Jhalawar on Friday morning. The incident occurred while the children were attending classes.A massive rescue operation was launched at Piplodi Primary School to rescue those trapped under the debris, as police, local residents, and officials rushed to the spot. The 20-year-old school building had a roof made of stone slabs, which intensified the impact of the children have died and 17 others are injured. Ten children have been referred to Jhalawar, of whom three to four are critical," said Jhalawar Superintendent of Police Amit Kumar. Calling it a "tragic incident", the state education minister said he was "deeply saddened" and promised a high-level probe. "The injured children are being treated at the hospital, and their treatment will be covered by the government. A high-level enquiry will be conducted to determine how the roof collapsed," said Rajasthan Education Minister Madan minister also received a detailed briefing from the District Collector and directed officials to expedite relief and rescue operations. Responding to the incident, former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said, "In Manoharthana, Jhalawar, reports are coming in of a government school building collapsing, causing casualties among several children and teachers.
