No one spared from investigation into Zara Qairina's death, says Anwar
KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has once again made it clear that no one involved in the death of the late Zara Qairina Mahathir will be spared investigation and legal action.
He also reminded all parties not to manipulate the case involving the 13-year-old student to the extent of creating negative perceptions or resorting to verbally abusing certain individuals.
"The government has been informed that the police are conducting an investigation.
"I repeat, no one will be spared from investigation," he said when launching the Madani Dairy Entrepreneurs Carnival: Driving the Modern Agricultural Revolution, Generating the People's Economy at the Tenusu Farm Fresh Complex here today.
Agriculture and Food Security Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu, Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek and Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad,
On another matter, Anwar said the government would continue efforts to protect the welfare of vulnerable groups, including fishermen and farmers.
"Every Friday before prayers, I eat at roadside stalls to meet the people, exchange greetings, and ensure their needs are met.
"There is no need to wait for election campaigns before going to the ground," he said.
After the event, Anwar inspected the construction of a new road from Kamunting to Anak Kurau, Larut Matang Selama Phase Two, under the Rural Roads Programme by the Rural and Regional Development Ministry.
The project, approved in 2016 at a cost of RM91 million, is being implemented by the Public Works Department and involves the construction of a new 6.6-kilometre road.
It is expected to benefit more than 5,000 residents, bring positive impact to the agriculture and plantation sectors, and improve accessibility, thereby stimulating local economic growth.
As of now, the project, which is scheduled for full completion on Aug 15 next year, has reached 70.5 per cent progress, surpassing the original target of 62.6 per cent and ahead of schedule by 59 days.
