MADITSSIA to organise food and build expo from May 2
Madurai District Tiny and Small-Scale Industries Association (MADITSSIA) will conduct 'Food tech 2025,' a food processing and technology expo from May 2 to 4 at the Ida Scudder auditorium in Madurai.
The second edition expo is supported by Central Food Technology and Research Institute (CFTRI), National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management (NIFTEM), National Research Centre for Banana (ICAR-NRCB), Tamil Nadu Agricultural University – Community Science College and Research Institute and Tamil Nadu Food Processing and Agri Export Promotion Corporation (TNAPEX) and National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development, said A. Kodeeswaran, president, MADITSSIA, at a press meet here on Tuesday.
About 100 stalls for machinery related to food processing would be displayed at the expo, he added.
'Innovative food products from various brands would be displayed at stalls allocated for food section,' he noted.
V. Suraj Sundara Shankar, vice-chairman, Food tech, said conferences that would be held at the venue would be headed by delegates from Central Food Technology Institute (CFTRI).
While their presence could be rarely be witnessed in private events, they have accepted to train people who are interested in developing their business through innovation and slight modifications, he added.
'If someone from a place like Madurai or other southern district wishes to get their resources, they have to travel to Mysore to meet and learn from them. So, by introducing young entrepreneurs, businesspeople, start-up companies, and valuable resource people from these institutes, we thought it would enrich their knowledge on the products they work on,' Mr. Suraj Sundara Shankar said.
Further, to attract more people to the venue, CFTRI is to display their innovative products at the expo, he added.
In addition to this, a build expo would also be organised. New construction techniques entwined with the conventional and traditional building methods would be explained to the public.
