How Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao, NCR voted for senators in Eleksyon 2025
For Malacañang, the Marcos administration's senatorial slate got six of the 12 seats up for grabs in the recently concluded midterm elections. According to Joseph Morong's report on "24 Oras," the Palace included on its list Camille Villar, who was also endorsed by Vice President Sara Duterte. The Duterte camp, on the other hand, has four of its candidates in the Magic 12. It would be five if Villar were considered part of the group. A third group – that of former senators Francis Pangilinan and Benigno "Bam" Aquino IV – were also in the winners' circle. Geographically, how did the country's island groups and regions vote for their senators? In Mindanao, the Duterte camp's candidates including Villar won all 12 seats. No senator from other groups won in the southern Philippines. In Luzon, where more than half of the country's electorate comes from, ten of the winning senators were in the area's Top 12. Ben Tulfo and Benhur Abalos, who placed in the winning circle in Luzon, didn't win. In the Visayas, seven of the administration candidates were in the Top 12, but senators Christopher "Bong" Go and Ronald "Bato" Dela Rosa topped the race. They were two of three in the Duterte slate who made it to the winners' circle in the Visayas. In Bicol, the region where former Vice President Leni Robredo comes from, only Go from the Duterte camp made it to the Top 12. The rest of the region's top-ranking senators came from opposition-aligned parties. In the National Capital Region (NCR), five of the top 12 candidates were endorsed by former President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr., while three others were from the Duterte camp. There was the unexpected entry of two independent candidates—Heidi Mendoza and Bonifacio Bosita—in Metro Manila's Top 12, despite not having party support. Both candidates also performed well in CALABARZON or Southern Tagalog, a region with a huge voter base in the country. –NB, GMA Integrated News For more Eleksyon 2025 related content and updates, visit GMA News Online's Eleksyon 2025 microsite.

Sara Duterte endorses friend Imee Marcos
Vice President Sara Duterte has endorsed the re-election bid of her friend, Sen. Imee Marcos, who has gone the opposite way of her brother, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. The endorsement was shown in a new advertisement posted by the senator on Monday, April 14. The two were in black and played on the word 'Itim' – which stood for 'Ilaban ang Tama, Itama ang Mali' 'Itim ngayon ang kulay ng bansa. Sa gutom at krimen, nagluluksa,' said Duterte. 'Gutom na ang sikmura, gutom pa sa hustisya,' Marcos said. Duterte's endorsement came weeks after the presidential sister withdrew from the administration-backed slate 'Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas'. Shortly after quitting her brother's coalition, Marcos launched an investigation into the arrest of former President Rodrigo Duterte, who is at the International Criminal Court detention center in The Hague, Netherlands for crimes against humanity for murder. The presidential sister is far outside the winning circle or the so-called 'Magic 12' in recent pre-election surveys. Sen. Robin Padilla, who leads the PDP Laban in the absence of Duterte, has also endorsed Marcos' bid.
