How Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao, NCR voted for senators in Eleksyon 2025
For Malacañang, the Marcos administration's senatorial slate got six of the 12 seats up for grabs in the recently concluded midterm elections.
According to Joseph Morong's report on "24 Oras," the Palace included on its list Camille Villar, who was also endorsed by Vice President Sara Duterte.
The Duterte camp, on the other hand, has four of its candidates in the Magic 12. It would be five if Villar were considered part of the group.
A third group – that of former senators Francis Pangilinan and Benigno "Bam" Aquino IV – were also in the winners' circle.
Geographically, how did the country's island groups and regions vote for their senators?
In Mindanao, the Duterte camp's candidates including Villar won all 12 seats. No senator from other groups won in the southern Philippines.
In Luzon, where more than half of the country's electorate comes from, ten of the winning senators were in the area's Top 12. Ben Tulfo and Benhur Abalos, who placed in the winning circle in Luzon, didn't win.
In the Visayas, seven of the administration candidates were in the Top 12, but senators Christopher "Bong" Go and Ronald "Bato" Dela Rosa topped the race. They were two of three in the Duterte slate who made it to the winners' circle in the Visayas.
In Bicol, the region where former Vice President Leni Robredo comes from, only Go from the Duterte camp made it to the Top 12. The rest of the region's top-ranking senators came from opposition-aligned parties.
In the National Capital Region (NCR), five of the top 12 candidates were endorsed by former President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr., while three others were from the Duterte camp.
There was the unexpected entry of two independent candidates—Heidi Mendoza and Bonifacio Bosita—in Metro Manila's Top 12, despite not having party support.
Both candidates also performed well in CALABARZON or Southern Tagalog, a region with a huge voter base in the country. –NB, GMA Integrated News

Marcos wants help for Pinoys affected by immigration ops in LA
President Ferdinand ''Bongbong'' Marcos Jr. wants immediate assistance to Filipinos affected by the large-scale immigration operations in Los Angeles, California. On Tuesday, Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro said the Marcos administration continues to monitor the situation there. She said the President wants concerned officials to extend assistance to Filipinos. However, he also wants them to follow the law. ''Sa ngayon po ang administrasyong Marcos, sa pamamagitan po ng DFA at ng Philippine Consulate sa L.A., patuloy pong mino-monitor ang mga recent immigration enforcement and protest,'' Castro said. (The Marcos administration, through the DFA and the Philippine Consulate in LA, monitors the recent immigration enforcement and protest.) ''At ang tagubilin po ng Pangulo, bigyan ng assistance ang bawat Pilipino lalung-lalo na po kung sila po ay nakabase o nagtratrabaho sa ibang bansa. Pero pinapaalalahanan din po sila na sumunod po sa batas ng bansa kung saan po sila nakatira o nagtatrabaho,'' she added. (The President wants assistance for Filipinos who are based and working there. However, these Filipinos are also being reminded to follow the laws in the country where they reside and work.) Earlier, the Philippine Consulate General in Los Angeles said a Filipino was arrested in his house during an operation of the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Consul General Adelio Angelito Cruz has said the Filipino was sentenced for theft and rape. He added that the Filipino would be deported. The ICE operation has triggered protests throughout the Los Angeles area. Advocacy groups and immigration rights supporters have taken to the streets, denouncing what they claim are excessive and discriminatory enforcement practices. To assist federal agents, over 2,000 National Guard troops have already been deployed to various parts of California, particularly in Los Angeles, as the raids continue. — RSJ, GMA Integrated News

Chiz maintains VP Sara impeachment trial to start in 20th Congress
Senate President Francis 'Chiz' Escudero on Tuesday maintained that the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte will begin in the 20th Congress. 'Sa 20th Congress tayo. Sa 20th Congress na 'yan dahil wala nang sapat na panahon ngayon. Hindi namin kasalanan 'yan. Pinili ng House i-file 'yan sa mga huling araw, huling oras ng last day namin na alam nilang dalawang linggo na lang ang naiiwan,' Escudero said. (We will conduct the trial in the 20th Congress because we don't have enough time now. It's not our fault. The House chose to file it in the last days, the last hour of our last day in session, when they knew we only had two weeks left.) "Trial will commence pag-resume na ng 20th Congress," emphasized Escudero. Escudero, meanwhile, said that the convening of the impeachment court will push through on Wednesday, June 11. 'Kahit anong mangyari, magko-convene, sa pananaw ko, ang impeachment court… magko-convene palagi ang impeachment court. 'Yun ang pinagbotohan namin kahapon, 'yun ang pinag-usapan namin at dapat mangyari 'yan bago kami mag-adjourn,' the senate president said in an ambush interview. (Whatever happens, I believe the impeachment court will convene... the impeachment court will always convene. That's what we voted on yesterday, that's what we talked about, and that should happen before we adjourn.) Escudero on Monday took his oath as presiding officer of the impeachment court in the trial of Duterte. The 19th Congress is set to adjourn sine die on June 14, while the 20th Congress will open on July 28, on the day of the fourth State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. Marcos also said earlier that the impeachment trial of Duterte would surely cross into the 20th Congress. —VAL, GMA Integrated News

Sara Duterte to be in Malaysia for ‘personal trip'
Amid the Senate's preparation to convene as an impeachment court, the Office of the Vice President on Tuesday confirmed that Vice President Sara Duterte is travelling to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia for a personal trip with her family. While in Malaysia, the OVP said that Duterte is scheduled to attend the Independence Day celebration and engage in a program consultation with overseas Filipino workers on June 12. Senate President Francis Escudero on Monday night took his oath as presiding officer of the impeachment court in the trial of Duterte. The Senate also adopted Senator Joel Villanueva's motion that the rest of the senators take their oaths as senator-judges in the impeachment trial at 4 p.m. on Tuesday. After the senators take their oaths, the court would be constituted but not yet convened, Villanueva said in his motion, which was approved. The Senate also voted unanimously to refer the verified impeachment complaint against Duterte to the committee on rules. Duterte was impeached by the House of Representatives on February 5, with over 200 lawmakers endorsing the complaint against her. She was accused of betrayal of public trust, culpable violation of the constitution, graft and corruption, and other high crimes. — AOL, GMA Integrated News
